I love food. Plain and simple. I'm not a serious food critic or picky either. In fact, I've never written a bad review for a restaurant. This has to be said, though. My friend was visiting me in Missouri and I wanted to show him a good time and treat him out. After reading rave reviews from various food critiquing websites such as google plus and urban spoon, Domenico's seemed like the obvious choice. Not to mention prime rib!! My friend and I lovvvvee prime rib and went for this very reason. We arrived right at open and were seated immediately. The service was friendly and adequate and our food came out appropriately timed. The salads were tasty, and my friend isn't a fan of salads to begin with, so that was great. The signature Italian dressing was definitely the star. We also ordered the appetizer sampler which was great as well. Main course is where the meal plummeted for the worse. The appearance was fine; the prime rib looked juicy. Cutting into it, mine was cooked fine, my friend ordered rare and instead received medium. Whatever- no biggie. Then we eat it. After a few bites I look at him and say, "...this doesn't taste great...." He nodded in agreement. The meat had absolutely no taste what so ever. Not even pepper or salt. It was bland beyond reason. And my friend's baked potato side dish was swimming in a 1/2 cup of sour cream.... If this prime rib would have cost $15.00... I wouldn't be quite as upset. However, including the $12.99 appetizer, our meal cost us almost $60.00. I've ordered prime rib from Outback and it was ten times tastier and 1/2 the cost. I even told my brother about this experience to ask if I was overreacting but he said the same thing! He had been to Domenico's, ordered an expensive steak, and was left disappointed and grumpy at the tasteless meat which cost him an arm, leg, and human soul. It was not worth it and I was disappointed. Perhaps if we would have ordered an Italian dish like pasta it would have been a better experience. In conclusion, the price and quality of food did not match up. I probably will not return. I would not suggest the restaurant to anyone, and strongly protest against ordering any...
Read moreThis is a very interesting restaurant...it seems to want to be a big time, fancy pants type of place, but at the end of the day, it's just a comfortable place to enjoy an amazing piece of prime rib. My husband ordered the prime rib dinner, not the prime rib buffet and as soon as the server brought it to the table, I regretted my choice of shrimp scampi. He gave me a bite and it was heavenly! My shrimp although tasty was waaaay over priced and didn't come with pasta? What? The server told me that their shrimp scampi did not come with pasta, just shrimp...so I ordered a side of pasta. I seriously thought I would be charged at least $5 or more for the small cup of pasta, but I was not, it wasn't even on our bill. The free bread is delicious, the salads are fine, but the dinner was not a five star experience, because they were hesitant to tell a customer to TURN DOWN HIS PHONE. Apparently the man could not make it through a meal without watching his movie and no one would tell him anything. My husband asked me not to approach him because honestly, he looked like a very rough customer, maybe that's why no one wanted to ask him to turn it off. Finally, I think his wife tired of fielding all the dirty looks and he turned it off. There is old school, vintage Sinatra era music playing in the background which was just loud enough to be plwasant and add to your meal. Note to house manager: ALL your customers are important, not just the ones who look scary and are...
Read moreJust finished eating here and I have very mixed feelings. When we walked in, we were told an estimate of a 35 minute wait which turned into nearly 50 minutes. The greeter didn't have the most welcoming attitude you'd expect from an upscale restaurant. So not the best first impression. We were seated and drink/appetizer orders were taken fairly quick, thumbs up for that. But the appetizer we got (the calamari rings) tasted like they were out of the freezer section at walmart. Just plain and nothing special to them. No seasonings either. As for the overall service, I give them a 6 out of 5 stars. Always on top of things, even on a busy day such as Valentine's day. Drink refills and food came out relatively fast. As for the food, I got the seafood pasta and it was by far the best I've ever had. The portions were what you'd expect for the price, but dang did they load it up with seafood. A++ for that. Not to mention the sauce was very unique and the scallops were definitely different from others. Will definitely come back for pasta, but I'll skip the appetizer. Salads however could be much improved in terms of price:portion. Taste...
