This McDonald's has been here since before I was born. If you go in the morning, you gotta love the lady who is always at window 1. I think her name is Dot, and she's a very sweet older lady. She was the one who told me to actually look at my receipt. I'm pretty sure every receipt from this McDonald's has a BOGO for anything on the menu if you do the online survey... Or maybe it's just sandwiches... But BOGO Big Macs are a pretty sweet deal nonetheless. And I could be mistaken, but I don't think these BOGO survey receipts print out as consistently at other McDonald's as they do here.
This McDonald's runs like clockwork in the morning. I can't speak for afternoon/dinner time, but several late night trips through the drive-thru here have literally left us waiting for 20-30 minutes, one time 45 minutes. I definitely get my late night fix somewhere else if I can.
The drive-thru itself is a mess. It and the parking lot are huge clusters. I've never seen a McDonald's with a more cramped parking lot and drive-thru than this place. The line can easily get out to the road at peak times, and if you park anywhere in the parking lot because the drive-thru is loaded with cars, you can almost count on having to wait to be let out by drive-thru people even if you go inside to get your food faster. It's hard to describe, you just have to see it to believe it. This particular McDonald's does a fine job at keeping my small farm town fat and business is always booming. I've always wondered why they haven't considered building a new building at a bigger location. Given, they are at one of the busiest intersection in town, but most of the customers are locals and they will go to where the food is if the restaurant ever moved.
This place definitely has its ups and downs, but thanks to their high efficiency in the morning and endless BOGO deals, I'll give it 4 stars.
*After writing this review, I looked up the sweet old lady at drive-thru window 1(Dorothy just turned 82), and also found that McDonald's is planning to tear down the existing building and build a new one in its place. They plan on changing the drive-thru configuration and reducing number of parking spaces. The reason I didn't change the original review is because Ottawa, IL is just a small town, and we have seen many business plans like this make proposals and fall through. A could not find a construction start date, so we'll see if it...
Read moreI always go through the mobile pickup line and I’ve been over 50 times this past year and not one time have they got my order right. It’s always the same order too, two double cheeseburgers with ketchup and extra pickle only, a large coke and a large hi c. Not one time we’re they able to get everything on my order right when the receipt would match up to what I ordered everytime. I get it, places get busy, especially McDonald’s. Things are gonna get skipped up on every once in a while because that’s the hustle and bustle of a kitchen. Although, it does get pretty ridiculous when they can’t get your order right one time. It’s called fast food, many people come through fast food places because they are on a time crunch due to very scheduled days. Sometimes the only chance at lunch people get during the day is 30 minutes to go to McDonald’s during their break. Making 2 burgers and filling 2 cups up with soda should not take upwards of 20 minutes each time. I understand their is also a management problem with scheduling. With a full line in the drive through, and full spaces for mobile pickup the other night, I realized I was waiting 20 minutes for a frappe and mcchicken. I called the store because I didn’t want them to bring my frappe out melted and the worker was very apologetic with me and told me that they are going as fast as they can but they only had 3 workers that night. I check the time and it’s 9:15. I have no idea what manager thinks it’s a good idea to leave 3 people working at night when it’s the only fast food place open late in Ottawa. Terrible management, terrible service, if I wanted to wait that long for fast food, I’d go find a...
Read moreThis place needs some help. Stopped by for a quick meal on Thursday, December 21. Started out in drive thru but it was more like a parking lot. After waiting about 15 minutes with out the line moving at all. I decided to try my luck inside and much to my surprise there was no one in line and I was able to place my order immediately...at 8:17 to be precise. After waiting several minutes and with a crowd of waiting customers growing exponentially with each passing moment 3 different employees asked me about my order and attempted to fulfill it with each getting distracted about half way through and leaving me wondering it my order would ever be completed. In the mean time several other perturbed customers approached the counter and expressed their displeasure at their orders not being completed in any sort of timely fashion. One customer iterated that he had placed his order at 8:00 pm and showed me his order receipt proving that fact. At this time it was after 8:30 pm. Finally the moment arrived when a 4th employee was able to complete my order...well mostly complete my order, I later discovered that they had forgotten an order of chicken McNuggets that I had ordered but there was no way I was going back in there to rectify that over site. In addition all of our food was cold as well as over priced when compared to other local McDonalds. I go to McDonalds occasionally for cheap food fast and to my great displeasure only received relatively expensive, cold and tasteless food in a very slow chaotic manner. I am convinced that this is not what Ray Croc...
