So, I really wanted taco's this Mother's Day and Fuzzy's is literally down the street... So hubby ordered some! I'm so happy I didn't have to make dinner, however, I can do much better than this food without even much exertion. First NOT authentic but didn't expect it to be... Anyone who says otherwise either was drunk at the time and didn't know better, or doesn't know the meaning of the word. The price for the food quality is horribly expensive. Would not recommend. We purchased a taco plate with mix-mex rice and Borracho beans, Combo plate with chicken enchilada and brisket taco with lime rice and latin potatoes, to kid's chicken dinners, and a appetizer of quaso. Everything was bland. Everything. The special Fuzzy's dust on the chips is just seasoning salt and not much of it at all. Everything was also luke warm and we live one minute away so the food must have not been hot even to begin with. Their special rice and beans were very mediocre at best, description way better than the resulting product. Potatoes were cold. Lime rice was greasy. Meat needed seasonings! The chicken had colour like it had seasonings on it, but it just tasted like overcooked stringy dry chicken... And lastly the curros in the kids meals had no flavor either. I think there is just cinnamon on the traditional kind. The oreo one also had no flavor. Not sweet even a tiny bit. The one good thing was the chicken sticks. They were crispy (even though cold) and had good flavor (I think with that seasoning salt). After we were all said and done, my son (3yo) asked for an apple... If that doesn't say it all. Also the food is cleaner tasting than Taco Bell, however it doesn't really have a taste so it's hard to compare. (Not big...
Read moreFirst two visits, not great. First time there was a late dinner, 8:30pm. cashier would go back to the kitchen after taking orders and not just a quick trip, he left as if to go make food or something. was gone a while. each time. ordering took a while given how few people were actually in line (2 in front of us). our chips and queso were luke warm and when we got our main order, it was barely luke warm. taste was still pretty good, but wouldve been better had it been hot or even simply warmer.
second visit was a to-go order at lunch. wife wanted chicken salad with ranch. they did not include the ranch. maybe i shouldve checked better, but i assumed (wrongly) that it was in the salad box. it was not. i simply had 3 tacos; chicken, pork and brisket. ended up with a ground beef taco in the mix and no pork. it was still good, just not what i ordered. also all 3 tacos were roughly half the size of the tacos i got the first visit which was dine-in.
i know its new, but i think if they serve food hot and serve the correct food and portion that i order, there is potential here. Ill probably still try again after they've been open a while longer and hope for improved food...
Read morePros: (1) Tasty taco filling (fried avocado, ground beef, spicy pork) (2) Good prices (drinks are $1 with previously purchased souvenir cup) (3) Large amount of seating (4) Salsa is strongly flavored (in a chipotle flavor sort of way)
Cons: (1) Slow service (too few employees perhaps - there seemed to be 2 kitchen workers and 1 person for phone and orders and all else) (2) Food prep seemed iffy - we received the wrong plate of food (which we then took back to them and they exchanged for the correct plate of food). (2b) You can tell there wasnât much love in the chips seasoning (3) The Latin-Fried potatoes are utterly devoid of that which you could call flavor. Alternatively, one of us says that they are devoid of the âLatinâ bit, and just exist as pure âfried potatoesâ (4) The soda machine was out of coke, so we had to mention this and due to the aforementioned staffing issues, it took about 10 mins to be resolved (5) The spicy pork was somewhat oddly textured (perhaps too much sinew and fat). So beware if you dislike odd meat textures
