I am so impressed with the business model, and the people who make it come to fruition, of the Supplement Superstores. I have had only positive experiences with Supplement Superstore staff, whether that has been at brick and mortar stores in Kansas City and the surrounding areas, or online via Facebook and email for the Supplement Superstoresā Operation Transformation Challenge. Everyone has seemed really enthusiastic - to interact with customers and to share their knowledge. And everyone has seemed to truly be rooting for customers to attain their goals. Relationship-building as well as personalizing what they offer based on knowing the people with whom they are interacting are clearly embedded in their business philosophy. And although I can tell they believe in their products as part of an overall healthy lifestyle, I never felt like I was being subjected to a hard sell. I was even able to try some products before deciding whether or not I wished to purchase them.
Say I rather deal with Supplement Superstores anonymously. As part of the Operation Transformation Challenge, toward reaching my goals, I received regular emails with tips on eating and exercise and factors that impact eating and exercise. Each week of the Challenge, Supplement Superstores offered an incentive to engage in the eating, exercise or other tips. The information and motivational strategies were based in science. Many of the employees have N.A.S.M. certifications - in fitness and nutrition, and I teach psychology and I noted that a lot the factors they shared that impact eating and exercise as well as their motivational strategies align with what psychological research has shown. Participating in the Operation Transformation Challenge was free, by the way. This goes back to what I said earlier that they really seem to care about helping people to be healthy/healthier.
In particular, I want to note the interactions I have had with Wyatt Mackley who works at the Shawnee Mission store. From day one, when I first walked into the store, I kind of feel like I hit the jackpot, not that first interacting with anyone at the store wouldnāt have also been a great experience. Wyatt offered me a bottle of water, asked why I had come in, and listened attentively as I shared that I would be participating in the Operation Transformation Challenge for the first time and what my goals and preferences were overall and for creating an eating plan. He created an eating plan that aligned with my goals and preferences and that was definitely doable. He explained very clearly, in a way I could understand, through analogy, the role protein could play in my goals (which was new information for me), and he shared some ideas for brands of foods at the grocery store that I said I enjoyed that could help me to reach my protein goals given a lifestyle on the go. He related to some of my eating struggles and how he addresses them. I definitely felt heard and motivated from our conversation. Each subsequent visit to the store when I interacted with Wyatt, which was about every two weeks to check my progress with an InBody scan, I left feeling the same way ā heard and motivated. He consistently appeared present, authentic and down-to-Earth. He brought up items from previous conversations related to my goals and life in general. He listened attentively. He answered my questions in easily understandable ways, and he was encouraging.
I think Wyatt is an excellent exemplar of what Supplement Superstores is about and that this is a business definitely...

There were 2 young men working that talked with me about the product i saw on line. Found out that product was only available on line . I do not buy on line. So Luke one of the young men asked questions about my goals and my likes . He showed me a product that the store carried that was what it seemed i might be looking for. The way he got my attention was he actually had me try the product showing me how easy it was to mix . I hate water but he put s small scoop of the mix and poured water into it and just shook it up. He had me pick the flavor which i was surprised at the many choices. I picked the safest as i usually go with Vanilla . The Vanilla Cupcake flavor he poured for both of us in a little cup and i was expecting a watered down nasty chalky tasting drink. It was exactly a flavor that was amazing, and he told me what he puts in his as he said this was a product he used also. He gave me great ideas to use milk or fruits to blend with it. I was so pleased with first of all, it being so easy to mix up and if i had no fruits or milk, it was just as great with plain water. Luke went the trouble show how easy it was to work with, and by giving me a sample to try well that SOLD THE PRODUCT AND IT WAS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, PLUS I WAS CONCERNED IF I ONLY COULD TAKE IT ONCE A DAY BUT HE WENT OVER WHAT THE PRODUCT CONTAINED, AND IT WAS SAFE TO USE AS MANY TIMES AS I WANTED IT. I ALSO BEING ON MEDICATIONS AND NOT KNOWING MUCH ABOUT SUPPLEMENTS WONDERED IF IT WOULD BE SAFE WITH WHAT I TAKE. SO MOST OF MY QUESTIONS I FELT MIGHT SOUND STUPID BUT HE WAS VERY PATIENT AND EXPLAINED IT ALL ..AGAIN THO IF HE HADN'T MIXED SOME UP FOR ME TO SEE HOW EASY IT WAS TO WORK WITH, AND TASTE, I PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE MADE THE DECISION TO PURCHASE IT BECAUSE I USUALLY END UP WITH NASTY PRODUCTS I EITHER GIVE AWAY OR CHANGE MY MIND AND DON'T TRY, I JUST RETURN.. The product selection is excellent, pricing is always competitive, but the reason I keep coming back is that the level of friendliness and customer service these guys provide puts Chik Fil A to shame. I spent the last year and a half travelling around the country and came back, and every single member of the Merriam team that I interacted with at the old location recognized me on sight and still knew my name. Blake, Luke, Kendall, and Joel could all teach a master class on providing great customer service. Theyāre warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and theyāre happy to meet you at whatever level of knowledge youāre at. Iām a competitive lifter and canāt stand going to stores like GNC where pushy salespeople try to upsell me on things I donāt need, and Iāve never once felt pushed at S2 or felt like they were trying to make a buck off me. Iāve also seen them be more than willing to take the time to explain products or supplements/ingredients to customers who ask about them.
