I wasn't sure about this place. I think I remember it opening even as far back as the 80's when I was growing up around here, but I never ate there then. I lived away for over 25 years but recently moved back to the area and my wife and I gave it a try after working out at Matt Ross one morning and we've been back several times with our kids.
The freshness and flavor has been spot on every time and the place is always very clean. The staff is helpful and friendly every time.
We love the food here and it's a great option for something a little more healthy without tasting like something a little more healthy. We love Greek/Med food anyway, so it's nice having a place like this nearby.
I have no idea if this place is still a family owned or just a franchise and if it's the same owners that were around when it opened way back or what, but it seems like it might be family owned or run by a family...not sure though. I also have no idea how it relates to the other locations about the metro area, none of which I have tried.
Anyway, always super tasty and fresh and a great fix if you crave Greek every so often as we do.
My only complaint is that the stuffed grape leaves, which is a favorite of mine and I order it anywhere I go for Greek in any city. I am used to them being already pre-chilled. The dish is served here warm/hot and the leaves are a bit hard to bite through sometimes. Not sure which is more traditional. Still tasty, but that's my...
Read moreWell, it's a chain which is what I was afraid of...lol. Having said that, I gave it 4 out if 5 stars if compared to other "fast casual food joints" like Chipotle. I got the lunch special: gyro & a cup of their lemon chicken soup, a piece of baklava & a water all for just over $12. The gyro was better then the ones you might get in a mall food court. The soup had a bit too much lemon in it. The baklava was made with honey flavored simple syrup & LOTS of it. Like, it was dripping with dimple syrup & hard to eat, lol. But not enough of the nut filling. I'm commonly heard saying you can NEVER put too much cinnamon in anything, but somehow they did, lol. I won't be getting the soup or the baklava again.
But if you are in a pinch & looking for an alternative to a fast food burger joint, I would definitely suggest coming here. Also if you simply MUST have a gyro or some dolmades & can't make it to a locally owned/family run greek restaurant, then I'd recommend this place. For the quality & the price, which was a bit high, I won't be a regular. But I'm sure I'll come back every once in a while.
The food was hot, fresh & came out fast! The employees were very friendly & helpful and the place was very clean! But if I were Greek, I'd probably HATE this place! Imagine if McDonald's opened up a Greek restaurant. Complete with cheesy decor, blue & white everything & a large tv showing old pics of the Greek islands, lmao! I'm Mexican and I HATE...
Read moreInterior decor is pleasant enough. They have tried to update the original appearance from late 90s stucco and polyurethane molding to a psuedo mid-century flair. I have to applaud the effort. Especially since they did not try to incorporate any distressed wood slats or bare steel tubing. Enough already with the "reclaimed barn wood" slat and bare steel tube look.
Service, such as it is, was not pleasant enough. Have certainly experienced worse, though. But, you order at the register, like fast food, and the cashier was either having a bad time/day/life - for which I'm sorry, I know how that is - but if you're the 'face' of wherever you work, you rent a smile and fake a "thank you" if you have to. I'm not responsible for her unhappiness. But I am plopping down $8 for a gyro that should cost $3 tops. So, smile and say, "Thank you!"
The gyro was actually very pleasant. Decent amount of tasty, juicy, tender meat and a fresh, soft pita. I realize I'm probably suggesting gyro sacrilege, but it sure would have been nice to have been able to put some other condiment on it other than the one sauce they provide. And, again, I realize it's probably low-brow, ignorant sacrilege to suggest it, but how about some fries, or at least chips! (Though I always feel ripped off when a restaurant only offers chips and not fries....)
Napkins are flimsy. Bus your own table...meh.
I'd probably never go back on my own, but would meet someone there at...
