First off; NO MICROWAVE! I hate the other places who boast authentic Mexican Cuisine but heat the food in a microwave. I can go to the grocery store, buy some frozen nasty burrito and do the same thing. This place is fantastic. Referred to me by a neighbor who is of Mexican heritage, she said it was the most authentic she's had, save for cooking it herself. First visit was the fish tacos. One word: WOW! packed with flavor, super fresh ingredients, crunchy where it should, firm where you want it to be and tender where it counts. Next visit was with a vendor and bit and I glad I picked to meet here. I had the sizzling chicken fajitas and my guest got what looked like to be a chimichanga on steroids. My fajitas we're amazingly tender and h inion and pepper we're not all soggy and overcooked. The refried beans with some sort of cojita cheese maybe? Yikes! I could have eaten a cauldron of it if it was an option. My guest, who weighs probably 100lbs, ate nearly all of her chimi. I couldn't believe it but she said it was amazing and couldn't stop eating it. I can't wait to go...
Read moreWe were super excited to learn Taqueria Durango was open again. Tonight was our first opportunity to go back. What a disappointment.
First, the noise was unbearable. The restaurant was not quite at 50% capacity, but the noise was so loud, we couldn’t hold a conversation. The walls in the restaurant are large, hard, flat expenses that effectively and efficiently reflect all sounds back into the room. I could make out nearly everyone's conversation. According to my watch, the noise level regularly exceeded 80 dB.
Then, there was the poor service. Our server didn't check on us until we had finished eating. Both of us had finished our drinks. No refills were offered. Next was the wait to pick up the check. I'm fairly sure we spent more time waiting on our server than we spent actually eating.
At least the food was as good as before the fire, and the prices are still reasonable. These kept this review at two stars instead of one.
We will not be going back. There are plenty of better choices within easy driving distance that offer equally good food in a better...
Read moreI have come to this place several times and was very pleased with everything around the board. I opted to come to this place instead of trying another Authentic Mexican Restaurant because I know the food here is on point. But today it was not. I ordered queso with chips and the Queso sauce tasted like watered down Queso. I'm a Queso lover and you can never go wrong with it. The last time I ordered all of my food was not in the bag and not all of the condiments and sides was not either. I let it slide took a blind eye to it. I go back again and no one seemed to understand what I was saying and I ordered Queso with chips, side of beans, and guacamole. My Queso was horrible it was very watery no thickness to it at all. I felt like when other Mexicans came in the were here instantly and greeted with food. I understand of taking care of your people I'm down 100% with that. But customers feel like that by coming to your restaurant because your food is delicious but the queso was a slap in my face. I'm totally...
