When my boyfriend and I walked in, we weren't acknowledged, the lady behind the bar looked at us once but it seemed like while she was going back and fourth to a table, she was trying not to look our way again. We waited about 4 minutes before the "hostess" made her way to us, without any sense of urgency, told us we could sit at the bar with full service, I requested that we sit in a booth around the corner, as it was quieter than the rest of the restaurant. She rolled her eyes, said "sure" and proceeded to take her time, grabbing menus and silverware, then took us to the booth. Told us about the drinks they were featuring, mumbled something else, and said our waitress would be with us shortly. After she walked away, I started a timer on my watch just to see how long it would take. 3 minutes and 48 seconds later, our waitress came to get our drink order, we ordered an appetizer, and she walked away. A few minutes later, she came back, I ordered a burger and salad, and my boyfriend ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and fries. Our appetizer came out almost immediately, and it was really good. A few minutes later we got our burgers, when she brought our refills out to us she said she was leaving and wondered if we wanted to cash out with her or transfer us over to a different waitress. My bf gave her his card and we paid. She came back with one box, and I had asked for 2 more, she went to grab those and when she came back for the signed receipt, we couldn't even get a few words in before she dismissed us and walked away. I had the bourbon mushroom and Swiss burger, and there was so much sauce on it that I couldn't even enjoy it or taste the meat in it. My boyfriends fries were definitely not fresh or hot. I understand that when it's time for your shift to be over, you're ready to go home. However, I have been in customer service for many years, and no matter how my day went outside of work, it never affected my job, my customers were always my number one priority, and if we were busy there was always an acknowledgement of them being there and letting them know I would be with them shortly. However, Applebee's at 2pm today was not busy, and there should've been no reason for us to wait as long as we did or be treated like we were. Also, after she "left," we were not approached by another server to see how we were doing or told to have a nice day ehen we were leaving. My boyfriend gave her an 8 dollar tip, which honestly, in my opinion, was entirely too much. I didn't catch the hostess, or waitresses name, or I would've put them in here. We eat here quite frequently, and never usually have a bad experience, but if I have an option for a different person to wait on us next time, I will definitely be...
Read moreFirst time going to this location. First time going to applebees in years. Chips and queso. Not very good. Chips bad. Queso bland. Minimal portion. They did offer us more chips as the first batch were consumed in less than 5 minutes. Wife said her salad was good. Breadstick not so much. Kids got chicken strips. No complaints here. Both ate them all. They asked for strawberries as their side as its listed as an option. It was served in a bed of yogurt. So neither one of them ate those. Should be stated served in yogurt on menu. I got classic cheeseburger with bacon. Asked for it medium rare. First observation upon it arriving to table was the verticality of the burger likened a double cheeseburger at mcd. Burger patty was so thin that there is no way to cook it medium rare. Kind of like mcd. For one of their most expensive burgers you're not expecting such a thin burger, one that cannot be cooked to order. The bun was brioche. The bun was good but btwn the thin patty and the flatter than accustom bun it just looked funny on the plate. Again I feel double cheeseburgers are taller. Fries were good and they were happy to bring ranch in which to dip them. Service was very good. Amanda was awesome. Shes a keeper. Probably wont be back. Just overall not good. Menu not very comprehensive or interesting. All steaks were sirloin, and the pricing was steakhouse-like. So didn't get a steak, not related to cost, but would have done a strip or filet. 4 steaks. All sirloin. This needs to be fixed. Again doubtful...
Read moreJust leaving Applebees and I really want to give a shout-out to Owatonna Applebees staff & management! We were a party of 5 plus a baby….ordered our drinks and appetizers and our waitress told me that one of the appetizers I ordered wouldn’t be very good with my sauce of choice so I decided not to get it and another choice was sold out- oh well. The remaining appetizers we ordered were delicious! On to our meal….my daughter ordered their new chicken sandwich, a staff member told her they were out of crispy chicken and would chicken tenders be ok? She agreed and the sandwich was very good! I ordered steak with shrimp and Parmesan- I ordered my steak well done….it came out very red and I asked if they could cook it well please….the waitress took my plate and shortly after a staff member, management I believe came to our table and said they were going to comp everything except drinks because of multiple issues. I was in shock! I wouldn’t have even complained about anything! They immediately remedied what they could when we did have an issue! I thanked them profusely! Way to go Applebees! Our food was delicious as always! We definitely will be back! This was my birthday dinner and I can’t thank...
