The only reason I'm giving this a 1* review is because of the absolutely atrocious customer service I received on Monday afternoon.
I ordered a chicken and rice teriyaki bowl, and asked for "No vegetables, just the chicken and rice."
When I was handed my bowl, there was a layer of salad in between the rice and chicken. I went back and politely explained to the young woman at the counter, who took my order, that I had asked for no veggies. She proceeds to tell me "It's just salad on top of the rice."
I then say "Correct, there is a layer of salad, and I had asked for no veggies."
She once again tells me "It's just salad."
We go back and forth about "No veggies" & "It's just salad" 5 more times before I angrily just take the bowl and give it to a homeless person.
This young woman clearly didn't give a single care about the fact that my order was incorrect, and made no effort to get me a new bowl with just chicken and rice. She consistently argued with me and told me "It's just salad, not veggies" like I'm unaware of what vegetables are.
I would strongly consider management having a polite conversation with her and explaining why she was wrong, so that this doesn't happen again.
$18 for a chicken bowl and coke, and I don't even get the order the way I ordered it? Absolutely atrocious customer service, and you...
Read moreAnother beautiful sunday in Oxnard, and the first thing my hungover hunger is craving is ramen!
Slowly became a regular here. Adrianna is always sweet greeting right away. Decided to sit at the bar since I was alone, and had good conversations with chef Kevin. Ordered a Large Asahi beer and he had one as well! Happy to do my part to relieve a little stress on a busy sunday shift!
My regular order here is the Garlic Bomb ramen, spicy tonkotsu (pork) broth #2, additional side of noodles and a soy egg. Lunch side of small chashu rice bowl.
The staff here is always great and attentive, and the food is always consistently soul warming, which is why I come so often, as the selection of asian restaurants in Ventura County is not very broad, as I work at one of the more dominant ones.
They do have outdoor seating through the back of the restaurant which looks over the harbor. Its super busy on the weekends after 2pm and on rainy days. Delivery is available through Grubhub as well. They close around 930 so as a chef as well, I would try to come before 9 to be courteous.
Keep up the hard...
Read moreThis place used to be decent a few years ago - not awesome, but not bad either. At some point (a year or so ago), new management took over. At first, the changes made seemed to be positive ones (newer, larger bowls, updated furniture, larger menu selection, etc.). The food quality was about the same, which was decent, but not great. For the price point, eating here was still a good choice overall. I just went back there today for the first time this calendar year. After today's experience, I will be moving on. The soup base was luke warm (I had tonkotsu, and my friend had spicy shoyu), so some items (egg, green onions, bean sprouts) were still cold by the time we ate them. We also ordered a side of karage (very crispy fried chicken). What we got was absolutely horrible. The "skin" was soggy, and the chicken was only slightly warm. They taste was disgusting. It seems the new management is trying to save money by turning down the heat (low-heated oil = soggy fried chicken). Since they just lost two repeat customers, I'd say the savings will not pay...
