Captain White Seafood City — Restaurant in Oxon Hill

Update: I was able to finally speak with Pete a couple of weeks ago and the issue was resolved. From my understanding, they will honor the online prices as is unless stipulations are indicated as part of future specials. I was happy to finally be able to get clarification and Pete resolved my issue.

Edited: The customer service has really gone downhill recently. I purchase from Captain Whites weekly and have for years. Not sure if it is the addition of new staff or what but it's not as good as it used to be. I tried to take advantage of the early bird special on Sunday, Oct 6. I called it in and the lady took my order and told me to pick up at 11:30. I asked if I would have an issue because of the time and she told me I wouldn't. When I arrived to pick up I was charged $30 more than the early bird price. When I tried to explain the situation to the staff member, he was not understanding. They were busy so I paid and left. I then called back a little while later and spoke with the same lady. She told me that after, I left they came and told her that early bird was not for call in orders but she was not awareans neither was I. If she had informed me I would have just went at 10am and ordered in person which was the same time I called in. None of this was listed on their Facebook post. Conveniently, after my issue the post was removed. She offered to have a manager call me back and I am still waiting for a call back a week later. It may be time to find a new crab spot. Be mindful that promos may not be as they appear on Facebook.

Captain White's is by far the best place to get the best deal on fresh seafood in the area. Since leaving the Wharf, they are not located in Oxon Hill with plenty of parking. Not only are the prices amazing but the customer service is top notch! You can call your orders ahead or arrive and order on site. They have deals multiple days of the week. In addition to crabs they have live lobster, oysters, shrimp and crab legs. They are also bag to onsite steaming to save you the trouble. They also have accessories for all your eating needs: crab paper, spices, mallets etc. Definitely worth the drive if you aren't local! Tell them Melissa...

A DC stable for seafood lovers and has been around for years!

Ever since the redevelopment and gentrification of the DC wharf area, a lot of of the original seafood vendors have moved, gone out of business or no longer on the waterfront. . One of the well-known seafood vendors at the DC wharf relocated as well..... Captain White's Seafood.

Although they don't have the nostalgic feel and vibe that was at the original location, the new location is really nice and a step up on their game! Located at a busy cross-section in the Oxon Hill 'HOOD..lol.... You will find their new location, hustling and bustling with crowds of seafood, lovers and patrons. The location is open, airy and loaded with great seafood finds and choices. From fresh fish, shrimp, scallops, oysters, clams, and many other seafood delicacies..... You will find them all here. And of course, the star of them all is the Maryland Blue Crabs. People normally travel miles for it and Captain White seafood delivers. The crab are always fresh, live and kicking, and their prices are competitive. My only gripe with this location is the wait time for having them cooked on site. Although the lines are long, they move fast, but if you're looking to get your seafood cooked on site, the wait can be long and in-upwards of a hour long wait or more! This is my only issue coming here. You can waste a lot of time waiting for crabs or seafood to be cooked and talk about waiting in the summer heat....who has time for that!? The only other option is to buy the pre-cooked crabs that are available or..... cook them at home. This is my only issue and what downgrades this place from getting 5 stars in my book!

I actually ordered, as a test today, a dozen of the pre-cooked crabs because I did not want to wait that long. Surprisingly, they were actually really good and hefty-meaty.

Other than the issue of long waits for having your food cooked on site, the seafood is fresh and the customer service is great. If you crave fresh fish go to Capt White's Seafood City. They have everything you can desire at great prices. Don't miss getting a snack while there - love the oysters --on...

Been a Captain Whites customer for a very long time. Had the worst experience today with very rude & condescending women at the cooked food pick-up window. Placed an order over the phone & was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. My husband goes to get our order & they proceed to tell him that there is no order & we never placed one. (I was literally standing at the window & watched the lady pick up the phone when I called the order in & ordered from her) My husband then told them our name & they still insisted we never placed an order. Waited 35 minutes & then all the sudden they have our order, but it's not ready yet. I then decided to call & ask over the phone if my order was there & ready & was told yes it was there & ready by the lady on the phone. When my husband asked for our order that I was just told over the phone was ready, they once again told him there was no order & proceeded to argue with him. So 45 minutes waiting for food that we were told would take 15 minutes, only to be told there was no order by the nasty ladies at the counter, but then told there was an order, then told it wasn't ready, then told over the phone it was ready, & then told in person again there was no order. It seems with Billy Ray's passing that the employees have lost his awesome customer service & love for his customers & love for the business. We have never been talked to or treated like this at Captain Whites before. These women were rude & nasty to several other people & the way they talk to us customers is uncalled for & really inappropriate. All we did was call in an order, wait for our food, & go to pick our food up only to be given an attitude, accused of lying, & given the run around. We just left without getting our order because at that point they seemed like they weren't even going to give us our food even if it was ready. So disappointed, but such is life; ended up with faster & friendlier service from Jessie...
