Very disappointed with the food. I ordered the downtowner which tasted like cafeteria food. Was covered in a brown gravy that tasted like it came from a can. The meat was low quality, definitely not “slow-roasted”. The sides were decent. Kids meals were way overpriced. Paid $7.50 for a corn dog, French fries and a drink. Other kids meal was chicken fingers…they were literally the size of fingers. Tiny. Almost like nuggets. The fries were very good. Kids were disappointed the menu said chocolate milk but the waitress acted like they never have chocolate milk. My mother decided to splurge for her birthday and ordered the grilled chicken Parmesan at $17.50. After first bite she had to send back because the chicken was tough. Everyone was finished eating and waiting around and she still didn’t have any food. She decided to go tell them it was taking too long and to forget about it but when she stood up the owner? walked to the back and came back out with her food. My mom felt bad and decided not to say she didn’t want it and instead sat down and took a bite then put it in a to go box. She said even though the chicken was no longer tough that she was very disappointed with the meal. There was no Parmesan. She said the meal tasted like something you’d get at a below average Italian restaurant. For $17.50 the dish should have been delicious. We thought there would be some sort of discount or a complimentary dessert or something since she had to send food back then waited forever but there was nothing. We will not go back. We were with several other families and everyone was...
Read moreJP’s Bar & Grill is loaded with ambiance, from the main dining area with its exposed brick walls and original art (Paducah has an Art School and thriving arts community) to the cozy beer garden with its own bar and live entertainment and/or karaoke to the tree-lined sidewalk and cobblestoned street that separate the restaurant from the Market House Museum and Theatre. I usually order their Green Chile hamburger because it’s consistently good, but was disappointed when I crossed over to the tenderloin steak sandwich: it was tough, although the toppings – sautéed onions, red peppers, bleu cheese, arugula and tomatoes - were fresh and tasty. JP’s wait staff are all friendly and efficient and the manager’s practice of stopping by for a brief chat is a nice touch. We haven’t been to JP’s late at night but understand it is a happening party place, nor have we tried any of their desserts but plan to: the New Orleans Bread Pudding looks...
Read moreWe were here for a rehearsal dinner. First of all, I do want to say that the food was wonderful, for the most part. (The appetizers were amazing!)
Our issue was with actually GETTING our food & drinks. Without going into all of the details, the service we received was not acceptable. We arrived at 7:10 pm. (having pre-ordered everything) and didn't leave until almost 10pm., and that's without even eating dessert. We paid $30 per person and our bill was over $1,300. At this price, I expected adequate service. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or just unorganized, but improvements are strongly suggested.
The atmosphere was nice - I actually like the decor, but the tables were not situated as promised which was another issue.
Would I go to JP's again? For a dinner date, probably, because the food was good. For a party, ...
