I am working in town for the next few weeks and someone recommended this place for lunch. Arrived around 11 and expected fresh food. I ordered shrimp el diabla and my buddy ordered the Baracoa tacos. We also ordered beef taquitos.
At first bartender was very attentive and on it. He got us drinks and took our order right away. Then 4 sales people came in talking with the owner in front of us about selling them beef products at a better price. And all the attention was off of us because the server was was paying attention to the meeting happening at the bar right next to us ( the reatrusnt was empty and this could have been done somewhere else. )
Now.. the food.. it came out less than warm. The rice was hard and crunchy tasted like it was from yesterday, the shrimp was rubbery and the sauce was not authentic. It wasn’t even close to the traditional dish.
I’m a garbage disposal. I eat gas station food. But I could not eat this. Neither could my buddy.
We went 15 mins without touching our food or getting refills because the bartender was paying attention the meeting. The place was not busy we were 1 of 2 customers…
Now fast forward to this evening, my buddy is puking, and I have the runs and both feel generally unwell. $70 meal that was basically nibbled on. Not worth it and would...
Read moreBased on reviews and the menu we had high hopes for this restaurant. It did not live up to expectations. Will acknowledge that they took one of the meals off the bill but that was not handled well. Server didn’t check back to see how food was. When we were done he did come to clear plates his response to “this is terrible” was “okay.” We didn’t know the meal was taken off the check until it was handed to us. The meal that was so terrible was the crispy chile relleno and cheese enchilada. The verde sauce on the relleno was so overpowering in acidity that it ruined the dish and the cheese enchilada was a solid glob inside. With everything else three things cried out for salt. The supposed salt rim on the margarita glasses, the bland chips and the french fries. I had the octopus in garlic sauce with french fries and salad. The octopus was puzzling because compared to everything else it was very good. Cooked just right, tender with good flavor. The salad was just bland iceberg lettuce with a sliver of red onion, carrots and tomatoes on top. The ranch was also bland. The server was pleasant but absent at times when you expect one to be about. By the time we had finished we were convinced not to try any of...
Read moreWas excited to try this place with all the review. Food was bland. Lacked flavor/ lacked salt. My fiancée likes to eat late so I ordered my dinner before him while we hung out at the bar. After having dinner, the female bartender/waitress seemed bothered I was still sitting there taking up a spot at the bar, despite the restaurant being dead that night. I got confused when she asked me if I wanted to order dinner. I reminded her she already put in my order and I already had my dinner. They seemed rude and bothered. I ordered an horchata and water because I wasn’t feeling well…was still trying to adjust to the altitude. The entire time I felt like I was being pushed out. There was also a rude local lady who didn’t seem to like tourist. She said “you’re leaving tomorrow, right?” The restaurant allowed her to mistreat me. Didn’t feel very welcomed and they still expected me to tip them 20-25%. Another local gentleman was very kind and asked me to ignore the rude lady. That man was the only good thing that came out of an unfortunate visit to...
