I'm so disappointed in the experience we had today. I have very severe food allergies that I just became aware of in the last 9 months, and after having 3 anaphylactic reactions to food in 57 days, I haven't eaten out since April. However, as I've started learning what I can and can't eat safely, I've wanted to try to eat out.
Let me start by saying that 4 months ago my husband went into this restaurant to ask about ingredients in a few items on the menu, and the male manager on duty was very nice and told my husband what were in the items I wanted to try. Even though all of those ingredients were safe for me to eat, it wasn't until today that I had the courage to actually go into the restaurant.
When we placed our order, the cashier was very nice and accommodating. I asked for a plain, untoasted bagel, not sliced (I didn't want to risk too much cross contamination) with butter on the side. She assured me it would be in its own tray. All was going well so far.
The food started to come out and the one elderly gentleman bringing out the food wasn't reading the tickets to see the number, he just started plopping food down on people's tables. A couple of other diners were so confused as to why he wasn't matching up the tickets to the numbers on the tables. After bringing our food to someone else and them reading the ticket and saying this goes to table six, my husband heard and went to get our food.
It turns out we were missing my bagel and some hashbrowns. We called the elderly gentleman over, told him what we were missing. He went back and got the hashbrowns, but not my bagel. My husband went back up to the counter and another elderly gentleman was giving my husband a hard time. He said there was no bagel on the receipt. So, my husband went back, got the receipt and at that point I went back up to make sure my bagel was being prepared correctly.
It came out sliced and toasted. I showed the receipt to him, and told him I just need a plain bagel that isn't toasted or sliced because I can't risk cross contamination because of severe food allergies. Well this man had the nerve to tell me that it wasn't a big deal. I then had to educate him on food allergies, anaphylaxis and my need to carry an epi-pen! How dare him imply that my food allergies aren't a big deal. They have literally almost killed me three times this year.
Both elderly men were so rude to us when all I wanted was a plain bagel with butter on the side. To the owners/managers, please educate your staff about food allergies. That toasted and sliced bagel that "wasn't a big deal" to these men, would have been a huge deal to me.
I am so disappointed that my first experience eating out in 7 months had to be so difficult when it really...
Read moreThe food was amazing, the place is nice, the service was horrible. You can look back at my reviews, I do not post negative. Unfortunately, this took away from the experience. It was our first visit and I was excited to try something new. I had a few questions and the front desk did not want to serve us until we were ready. When I started to ask a question, she interrupted me and said you are not ready yet. They have lines to stand on and we went back to the back line, and then when the register next to our line was open, (we were next in line) he didn't call us up. He just stared straight ahead and knew we were there because of the situation that just happened. I had to ask if we could come over to his register and order. It was a strange experience. No one smiled, looked up at customers, or greeted anyone. Everyone other patron in there seemed fine with this. I actually wondered if we were in a restaurant that had those attitudes on purpose, but couldn't find anything to signal that. Maybe my excitement and confusion about what I wanted was too much. I definitely felt like a bother and they weren't busy. We ended up getting two bagels with cream cheese and they were fantastic. The place is nice and watching the bagel process is cool. Really could be an amazing place. My advice, know what you want before you...
Read moreI used to go in and get the Brooklyn, in the picture you get a fat sandwich with strips of bacon, 3-4 pieces of ham, and sausage. In person, I’d always get One piece of bacon on the entire sandwich, one piece of ham, and of course they couldn’t give me anything less than a sausage patty, or they would. When I went up to ask shouldn’t the sandwich look like the picture. I got some runaround, and immediately told by perhaps the only male manager, looks like a current or ex drug addict.. His first response to me asking shouldn’t the sandwich look like the picture, was well I’m not remaking your sandwich, couldn’t help but to start laughing..it’s a shame I can’t get the sandwich the way I’d like(as pictured) unless getting extra bacon and extra ham and now spending $12-$13 for a breakfast sandwich! Stupid, ridiculous, and false advertising. I guess they need to make 1,500% profit on one sandwich and aren’t happy giving the customer what...
