Good afternoon. I recently visited your salon for the first time and had a dip nail service, gel removal and repaint, along with eyebrow grooming. I’d like to start by saying that Jaylen (I hope I’m spelling that correctly) was absolutely wonderful—professional, kind, and attentive throughout my appointment.
However, I wanted to share some feedback regarding the pricing transparency. When I booked online, the total for dip nails and eyebrows was listed as $75, and I was informed that gel toes would be an additional $30. I expected a total of $105, but was surprised when the final charge came to $120.
Upon inquiry, I was told the extra $15 was for dip removal, which had been listed separately. While I understand the need for that charge, I was not made aware of it during booking or prior to my appointment. I believe it’s important that all costs—especially add-ons like removals—are clearly stated on your website or booking platform to avoid confusion at checkout.
This is not a reflection on your staff, who were excellent, but rather a suggestion to improve the customer experience. Transparency in pricing helps build trust and ensures guests feel confident and informed when choosing services.
UPDATE - thank you to the owner for your response unfortunately, it is inaccurate.
The charge to remove my previous place dip powder, was never discussed. I questioned it when I was checking out and saw the additional $10 charge. I told her when I booked the appointment it said that dip powder and eyebrows were a total of $75.
The conversation that was discussed prior to check out was the additional request for services when it came to removing the gel on my toenails, and then getting them redone. The technician it stated that it’s $30 stating that five dollars was for the removal. Meaning in my head it was $25 +5 equaling 30.
When I checked out, there was $30 for the gel toenail +5 dollars and then the $10 that we never discussed about the removal of the dip powder.
So again, there was an issue with communication and price transparency.
The technician is just doing her job, it comes down to the...
Read moreHands up, 2020 and Toes too because all is looking gorgeous after my visit to Sylvia's Nail Salon! I booked a classic manicure as well as the classic pedicure for 1PM on a Saturday. I arrived a few minutes early and Sylvia greeted me by name as I entered the salon. She immediately introduced me to Katherine and directed me to the pedicure chair after confirming my desire to have the pedicure prior to the manicure. Fun Fact: it was both Katherine and my first day at Sylvia's.
After seating me and setting up my pedicure tub, Sylvia offered me a beverage. I confirmed coffee and she offered me a cappuccino. Winning! Accompanying my cappuccino was a Ghirardelli mint chocolate square beautifully presented with a decorative napkin. The cappuccino was superb! I selected Essie Blanc from the enormous selection on the wall for my pedicure. The pedicure chair is the BEST I've ever sat in and it is important to note I've been getting pedicures since I was in high school aka a LONG time ago. ;) The massage options are tremendous and include the entire seat. This was such a treat after having run a 5K race earlier that morning. Shoutout to Patty W. who praised the pedicure chair, you didn't disappoint.... per usual. Neither did Katherine, she gave me an excellent pedicure and did a really nice job with the polish portion.
Fast forward to my classic manicure. I love the heated towel at the end and Katherine did an amazing job buffing my nails. I'm not a fan of color on my hands. I appreciated the consistent setup of the tables. Specifically, I like the lack of cluttering and table dust often seen at competing salons. Speaking of aesthetics, I appreciate the salon's décor. The lighting is fantastic and I'm beyond smitten with the champs wall art behind the pedicure chairs. I'll happily purchase it if you ever grow tired and change it up. ;)
I enjoyed my services at Sylvia's Nail Salon along with conversing with fellow patrons. I will definitely return and would request...
Read moreMy experience is clearly specific to my technician, and may not speak to the overall experience you might have at this place with another tech. I read excellent reviews saying you couldn’t go wrong with any tech here, turns out that you can, and $140 later I’m left extremely disappointed. I should have waited for an appointment with a recommended tech from the reviews.
Let me start by saying, my cuticles were not removed or attended to at all. What kind of manicure is that? They’re still grown out and my fingers don’t look clean, as they should. It’s clear this tech either just started or just doesn’t have the technical skills to be able to perform well. She was very nice, and I felt awful trying to say anything, the small requests I made during the appointment were done incorrectly, and I realized there was nothing she could do better. My nails all are uneven, the shape is really ugly, and they’re all a different shape. I asked for a pointed almond and they are extremely round and some even flat at the tip. I tried showing pictures and examples, but like I said she just lacked the ability to even do a simple shape. she didn’t know how to use chrome powder properly so my nails are all streaky and patchy. She did not know how to shape, how to use builder gel, or how to do a manicure. It genuinely seemed like she was just winging it the whole time. Also realized at home that one side of my pinky nail is missing.
When I booked my appointment it said $90 on their booking site (for a builder gel manicure and basic pedicure) and I was ok with that. I go to pay and my total is 140 because apparently they charge for shaping your nails, and I was not told that there would be such a high charge for the chrome powder. They should tell that to their clients before hand and I would have not asked for chrome, mine you, it was my first time at the salon so, they should really tell new customers their prices. My tech was Nancy. Sweet, nice woman, but has no clue how...
