Lappert's Super Premium Ice Cream - Sun City, CA — Restaurant in Palm Desert

Back again, but at this other location. I was almost going to get another date date shake like I did when I was at their Palm Springs location, but I decided to try out some ice cream. Nothing like some good ice cream on a hot Palm Desert night.

ITEM'S ORDERED:

I went with the 3 scoop to share with the gf. Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramel, Macadamia Nut & Kona Mocha Chip.

TASTE:

All the ice cream was creamy & the portion was a good size. I'm a big fan of how all the flavors had lots of their respective ingredients in it. Such as Macadamia Nut having plenty of full size nuts.

I was more impressed by Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramel & Kona Mocha Chip than Macadamia Nut. The sea salt flavor works very well with the sweet ice cream & makes for a good balance. It's not one of those salted caramels that just taste like caramel. The actual coffee flavor in Kona Mocha Chip was quite strong which I like, & the chocolate chips were plentiful as well as sizable. These 2 flavors worked very well together.

Macadamia Nut for me just did not have enough "nut" flavor. I guess I was just expecting to taste a more dominant roasted macadamia flavor. But it was more just nuts in lightly flavored ice cream. I read the description after though & it does say lightly flavored so makes sense. Just my thoughts on the taste.

SERVICE:

It was a busy later Saturday night and the 2 younger guys were working hard serving it up. & they both had a good attitude the whole time. I waited in line & there was line pretty much the whole time, but it did not take that long. It's relative thought since sometimes people can't pick their flavors which makes it take longer.

LOCATION & PARKING:

They are located in the Stater Bros shopping plaza, off of Varner Rd & Washington St. There's lots of parking so no problem with that.

Just as the Palm Springs location, you'll definitely get the Hawaiian vibe in here. But compared to that location this one is much more built for you to be able to enjoy your ice cream seated inside.

What a gem! The quality of ice cream here is among the best! The flavors are very unique and offer an amazing adventure for anyone. Check out their menu to see what I mean... I feel like I can try flavors that would be popular in other countries without having to fly there. The staff is very friendly and happy to serve you, indication of a greatly led team and business. Truly among the best ice cream you'll find anywhere, period. I tried their newest flavor, Cookie Monster. First made famous by "Afters" (another great ice cream place) and I must say, lapperts took the idea and said, how do we improve this... clearly, because let me tell you. It had just the right amount of cookie dough and an amazing variation in cookie sandwich crumbles, ranging from large chewy pieces to so small the nearly add a new flavorful texture. The ratio is incredible! By far the most oreo and dough chunks I've ever had from the 3 places that serve this new amazing flavor. Bravo lapperts! The ice cream here is awesome as always!!!! As for the Horrible experience with the owner honoring a palm desert high school elite fundraising card ....that I personally purchased multiple of, to support the PD football team during these trouble times. I have owned these cards in the past. Schools usually send these out with the children, I have never had a problem before. The manager stated I was getting these shakes for free repeatedly in front of her employees and customers around us. This was obviously not the case since you have to buy one to get one free just as the card states. I was embarrassed in front of my kids and everyone else. I as the customer shouldn't be told a whole story about how this is not going to continue to happen because she(owner)took over the business and was notified about the fundraiser coupon card . In the mean time I would appreciate for the owner to figure out a system for all of us who have purchased these cards. I will continue to support the students of palm desert high school, because it clearly isn't...
