After seeing the restaurant's chef on TV showing the Roasted Chilean Sea Bass, I was excited about going to their Prix Fix dinner. It looked and sounded great. Restaurant Week is a great time for restaurants to shine and feature how great their restaurants are so that they get repeat business. At least that's the concept. We were disappointed with our visit. We RSVPed a table for 7 pm the day before. No problem getting a table. Another restaurant we also wanted to go to only had tables available very late. We arrived at the parking lot behind the restaurant but only found 2 non-handicapped parking spots. We assumed that the restaurant was full. However when we walked in, there were not a lot of people there. Before when we went at the same time, it was packed. (More people arrived later.) We were quickly seated in the back of the restaurant next to the kitchen door. Definitely not one of the better places to sit due to the staff coming and going and their noise. Next time we'll know to ask for a place away from the kitchen. After we were seated, someone came quickly to bring water and take our drink order. I ordered iced tea and my friend ordered hot tea black. We didn't know until the check arrived that it was a premium organic tea. Not particularly different from Lipton but double the cost. Another thing to remember for the next time. We then ordered our choices from the prix fix menu. I ordered the salad wedge, the Ribeye (medium) and the cheesecake. My friend ordered the Ceasar salad, the sea bass, and the coconut sorbet. Shortly, the salads arrived. The wedge was nicely cold and covered with the dressing, Bleu cheese, and bacon bits. The Caesar had anchovies on top with good dressing and a lot of shaved parmesean. Both were good. After we finished them, one of the kitchen staff brought out the main courses. My Ribeye was thin but large with ample vegetables (cauliflower, baby brocolli, and colored cauliflower) and a scoop of potatoes. However, the sea bass arrived with potatoes but no asparagus. That was the first item listed on the description of the dish. We asked a staff member passing by and was told that they ran out! That was strange because that day was the first day of Restaurant Week and the prix fix menu. His reaction was evidently noticed and the manager was called over to deal with the problem. She said she would see what could be done. Within a couple of minutes, she brought a dish with asparagus. Large asparagus (1/2" thick). Unfortunately, evidently due to the size, it was very undercooked and not very good. When he started eating the sea bass, he found it undercooked (barely warm). Not wanting to complain, he went ahead and ate most of it, even though it wasn't how he expected it to be. Finally, after we finished, the desserts were brought out. My cheesecake was OK. However, instead of coconut sorbet, he received lemon, which he didn't particularly like and wasn't what he ordered. We waved down the waiter and asked it to be exchanged for the coconut as he ordered. When he brought out the right one, he explained that it was really coconut-mango. However it really did not taste like either, but definitely wasn't the lemon. Bottom line: the special dinner was not like we were expecting and was disappointing. Definitely, this place did not shine and make us want to come back. Previous times at this place had been very good and that was our expectation tonight. We definitely will not be...
Read moreJust to be clear... this review is not from me. I felt compelled to post it because my friend was in there today(Thanksgiving) with his mother, an elderly disabled woman with a walker. With a reservation. Here's his experience...
Happy Thanksgiving, I think?
You don't have to respond, but I did have to share that this happened.
We had reservations at Trio Palm Springs but nooo....
We walk up to the reservation desk.
Ignored...
10-15 seconds is a long time wait at a hostess stand, especially when they are sharing gossip with fellow staff.
"Hello?" (gleering us up and down while turning to finish his sentence with the wait staff.)
"Can I help you?" (the host finally asks us... but only after he again finished his gossip with a waitress standing next to him at the host desk.)
"We have reservations!" mom says.
Annoyed, he looks around the restaurant and says he has no tables for US right now.
We push back ... So ...
He walks us in to the middle of the restaurant and exclaimed "we have no seating for you..." as several seated tables turned around to look at us.
"We have a reservation," we say...
"I can sit you outside," he snaps.
So...
I asked if we could NOT do this in the middle of the restaurant and walk back up front? He called his manager on walkie, the enthusiastic manager says the same thing to us:
We can sit you outside.
(with the dogs and walk-ups? Why have reservations?)
Meanwhile, a table of five got seated, and then a table of six was ushered in.
NEVER eat at Trio's Palm Springs.
TRIO Restaurant
They could not seat us with a walker, and we HAD reservations for seating.
Plus, as we left, they back talked and sassed us and acted as if WE did something wrong. The host guy and the manager guy and the owner guy were there as we left, and NO ONE cared to help us. NO customer service. Obviously, they didn't want us there or our patronage or money.
We had reservations. What more needs to be said for a business if you take reservations than you honor the reservation?!
They had no room for us unless we sat outside. Poor management and no customer service.
TRIO Restaurant in Palm Springs does NOT care for disabled clients with reservations.
😭🙄

Read moreFirst, I'll start off by saying the food was pretty good. Definitely worth the price. No one in our group had complaints regarding their meal. The low rating is primarily due to our server's dismissive attitude. When Jay, our server, first arrived at our table, he was extremely friendly. He explained the specials and quickly left for a significant amount of time. He dropped off drinks to the table next to ours and then after some more time had passed, he dropped off their appetizers. He ignored our attempts at trying to get him to our table to ask if we needed anything else or if we were ready to order. This evolution was almost an hour of sitting there waiting to order something. Finally, he came back and we provided our drink order. Once he came back with drinks, we ordered our mains. I will note that the rest of the staff was quick to bring us water, clear our appetizers and main dishes. We had finished eating and the staff even cleared our dishes for a good 15 minutes before I intercepted Jay to ask for the check. We were close to being at Trio for almost 2 hours at this point and were ready to get some rest after a long day. I asked him for if we could please get separate checks and he shot back "we don't do that." I asked how can we split the bill and he gave the option of putting down two cards and splitting it in half - even though there were four of us. I didn't say anything else since I was taken aback by his abruptness. He brought the check and my friend asked him why it wasn't possible to split the check. He said again in a seemingly annoyed tone that they don't split checks and when questioned further, he said it used to be written on the menu but now it's not and then tried to walk away without taking our check with the one card as he requested. Once he came back and without provocation, he said we should've told him beforehand that we wanted separate checks which didn't logically make sense if Trio doesn't do separate checks to begin with. In all, not an ideal experience. His attitude was out of line. We simply aren't from the area and wanted to be able to pay for our own meals. Definitely won't be making...
