Please do yourself a favor and do not stay here. High reviews on some platforms completely misled me on the quality of this establishment and I wish I would’ve done more thorough research beforehand.
This review is regarding a stay on 5/17 to 5/19. I’d like to preface that I was extremely excited to stay at this hotel. I visit Palm Springs at least once a year and stay at a much more traditional resort. Our primary reason for going on this trip was to go on a mid-century modern architecture tour and, from its online appearance, this hotel seemed to fit that theme. Upon arriving, the hotel looked extremely cute and well-kept from its exterior. The lobby was adorable and the pools and grounds, while small, were impeccable. However, things took a downward turn immediately after that.
I’ve attached pictures for reference but the hotel we booked online was nothing like what we’ve received. I’m guessing they have a few “nice” rooms, an expert stager, and a great photographer, but this bait and switch was obscene. Our first room had hair on the bathroom walls, the walls and baseboards were filthy, the cheap furniture was in poor condition and the wall art above the bed was peeling off the wall. To say that the pictures on the website are misleading would be a gross understatement.
Initially, when I asked the girl at the front desk for assistance regarding the cleanliness of the room, she was extremely unhelpful. She more or less shrugged when I disclosed the fact there was hair from a previous guest in the bathroom. It took me bringing up that issue a second time, in conjunction with the fact that we had been duped by their online image, to be given a new room. We saw another guest complaining about the condition of her room upon arrival as well.
While the new room was an improvement, it was still not worth the $200/night we paid for it. The scuffs and marks were still all over the walls and we had little ant-like bugs crawling all over our bathroom counter and sink. Many of the features of the room, including the bathroom door and shower lever were installed incorrectly and were crooked. I’d say this place is akin to a 2-star motel and its prices should reflect that. I will say that the beds were comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great.
All the renovation budget seems to have been spent on the exterior features of 7-Springs with inadequate attention on the interior. Other reviews say that this place is a cheap hotel with a mid-century paint job and that’s extremely accurate. I can say, without hesitation, that I will never stay at this hotel again. I highly recommend you...
Read moreWell, I’ve stayed here a few times in the past and I like it because it’s quiet and well kept. However, this past time I stayed for two nights and sort of had a run-in with one of the employees immediately after I checked in. The person who checked me in mentioned to me also to keep the room keys away from magnets as they tend to desensitize and prevent the keys from working. OK, I understood. I’ve stayed in many many hotels around the world over the years I went to my room to put my bags in and then came back out to run an errand, then went back to the room, but the keys would not work. I had put the keys in my wallet but they would not open the door to room. I went back to the front desk and kindly mentioned to the person (he told me his name was Jonathan) that the keys would not work on my room and I’d like to get a working key. Well I guess Jonathan was having a bad day because he seemed to get defensive and then get offensive with me. He began to aggressively question me to the effect of “Did you put your keys next to something magnetic?” No I told him all I did was put one in my wallet and kept the other in the protective covering you gave me. He then starts getting flustered and says pretty rudely and accusatory “Well, you did something to the keys, they just don’t work unless you did something to them”. Like wtf? Keys sometimes don’t work because of whatever I told him, could be any number of reasons but regardless I’d like a new key. He did not want to let it go! He continued to badger me that it was my fault for the keys getting demagnetized. And so I said … wait… I’m the customer here. All I want is a working key. He then said to me “ well perhaps this isn’t the right place for you to stay, maybe you should go look elsewhere to stay tonight”. Like wtf? Couldn’t believe it. I asked “Have you ever had basic customer service training?” And he replied no he hasn’t had any training and again repeated the line about that maybe 7 Springs may not be right for me” . (Jonathan: you should stop being a rude jerk to customers. At your age, being bitter and defensive with an attitude isn’t a good look especially in the hospitality industry.) He finally gave me new keys and continued to … harass me about the keys and finally I said “Bye!” I felt horrible for about 30 minutes afterwards. Never have I felt like that after any hotel in the world I have stayed in. Unbelievable.
Management: get it together and train your staff on basic...
Read moreI called and booked our suite directly through the hotel, as I read on their website they could give a better rate than going through any booking agencies. I called and spoke with the manager, who indeed, did give me a just slightly better to the same rate than the prices I saw when looking. He emailed me confirmation of our reservation including the price, and our payment of the first night. This is why I only give this hotel a 2 star rating: When we arrived at the hotel to check in, the pleasant woman there greeted us, started the check in process, and then was ready to take our credit card for payment on the remainder of the stay. She gave a figure of how much the cost would be, that was about $400 US more than what I was quoted. I showed her my email confirmation on my phone, which she read, and then told us, she could do nothing about, as she didn't have authority to override what her computer gave as our rate. She said the manager started in about 11/2 hours, and we could discuss it with him. However, without giving my credit card to go through on the higher amount, she would not be able to let us check in. We had already had a very long travel day, and this was not a good start to our trip. I gave my card to her, so we could put our bags in the room. When we came back to the desk when the manager had started, he also took my phone to read my email HE had sent me, which he scrolled up and down and read for too long. He stated he didn't know why or how the rate he gave me was less than what their computer showed. Which I didn't feel like was my concern. After at least half an hour, he processed our cards at the price originally given to me. No apologies, nothing. I felt like it was a scam.
If not for this, I would have given this hotel 3/12 stars. Pros: Suite was big, cleaning staff wonderful, beds were very comfortable, the hot tub was very nice, it is a good location for easy walking distance to downtown. Cons: Paper thing walls, we heard traffic from busy road it is on, and any noise suite below or beside us made. The last night we were there, a large group of young women had a big party with booming music. They returned from their night out at 2am, after the desk was closed, and woke us with the noise of the music and their shouting. There was nobody to answer the phone, or at the desk to talk to them. Carpet and wallpaper are worn and a bit shabby - need...
