We had a really serious infrastructure problem with our room during the first 24 hours that made it unsuitable to stay in any longer. ... not due to us, and not due to anyone working the front lines at the hotel. We were also awakened that morning at 8am by a persistent chain saw not far from our door. We flew a lot of miles to PS to get away from the city and have a vacation... and boom.. chainsaw. there is nothing restful about a chainsaw at 8am. I couldn't even go sit outside and have breakfast in a shady spot in a chair. I was tired. I wanted to sleep. It sucked.||We've stayed here a few times over several years. Prior to the incident, we noticed that the rooms have been really feeling run down... they're clean and staff are clearly working themselves hard to keep things nice, but for lack of a better word, it's becoming shabby... worn out||- room refrigerator (a mini fridge) had no shelf and no holder for cans in the door, so it was impossible to store anything in it|- trims are just old, and furnishing are worn|- air conditioners are extremely loud when they cycle off and on. I don't know about you, but this wakes me up.. and when they're on, they blow so much air that you're too cold, or too hot if you shut it off, or in a wind storm|- basic infrastructure maintenance is lacking|- marketing materials and the binder of information about the room contained numerous misspellings and poorly executed marketing speak. Did this affect the quality of the stay? No. Does this affect the impression left about the place? Yes. (I found the binder AFTER the disaster with the room, so it was sort of ironic to see the hotel self-describe as providing new levels of luxury and so on -- don't make exaggerated claims you can't back up. ||This hotel is nice. It's really charming when things are working. It's modest in some ways and that's totally fine with us. We want to love it. But the marketing materials present a picture that is simply not realistic the way it's presently run.||In short, they are letting this place go and see to favor the higher-end Triada across the street.||Now, I must also say that the person running the desk, Aleena, acknowledged the severity of the problem we experienced, took it quite seriously, and acted rapidly and decisively to save the day and get us into a new lodging that worked out perfectly fine for us. We are grateful to her for her efforts and for turning what could have been a very bad, stressful thing that didn't end, into only a stressful thing that only lasted a couple of hours (and none of it her fault).||I'm glad the people who make things work are empowered to solve problems. But it's also disappointing to see that the property is just not being refreshed as it deserves. I think there is wasted potential at this property and some thoughtful, conscientious refreshes would make a difference. Maybe business is hard now, but if the trend continues, the hotel isn't going to thrive, and that...
Read moreThe good : It's a small hotel with less than 30 units, can't remember the exact number. I personally like that. It is an adult hotel, no kids allowed. Perfect for a weekend get away for you and your partner. We stayed here one night for our 1 day staycation/anniversary. Nate was awesome, I had to go in to drop off flowers, he set them up for us, made a heart of rose petals on the bed. My lady loved it! The room was clean, the bed was very comfy. Best of all tho, they had the temp set to 70. It's palm springs in the summer. So 110 and above is very common. They had wine and cheese in the afternoon, and a free breakfast snacks in the morning. Pool and jacuzzi looked clean, we didn't use them but saw other guest enjoying their time. Overall the experience was great. We got in at around midnight after a night out. The 70 degree room, along with pillows and blankets, allowed me to sleep till 10 am. I usually don't sleep more than 6 or 7 hours. The bad: Our room had a balcony, they have some tall bushes for privacy from surrounding properties. The balcony was full of leaves, not that big of a deal, maybe we just arrived on day 5 or 6 after the gardener had cleaned up. Although the bathrooms and showers were very clean. The toilets were small. I couldn't fit in them lol. I'm 245lb 5foot 10, so I'm not a huge guy. The toilets were just small. Overall: Free wine and cheese, free breakfast snacks, nice pool, great staff, great location in downtown, for a decent prize. Overall this was an amazing hotel to stay at. And would definitely be staying again here when we need a night away from the kids. 10 out 10...
Read moreDisgusting and really bad service. First off I just drove 3 hours in traffic from LA. Got to the hotel and found out we had to go across the street to another hotel to check in. So with my bags I head over to the other hotel to check in. Went back to my hotel and room and went to wash my hands and learned there was a pipe leak in the bathroom. Called the front desk and they told us to go back to the other hotel to get keys for another room. Still have luggage carrying around back and forth we go back to our new room to learn that the keys didn’t work to open the door. My husband went back to the other hotel to let them know but this time the front desk person walked back and made sure the key worked. Great right? Nope! We get out, things got situated and we were looking around and noticed it could be a little cleaner but it’s ok, we said we just won’t sit in the couch (see picture). We were relaxing on the bed and my husband noticed a bad, dark spot on my pillow. Yes, it was blood! (see picture). I am completely disgusted and I called and asked for a refund. We walked back to the other hotel. They gave us the refund. Then they showed us another room in that hotel. They told us it was the Elizabeth Taylor room. Fancy, right? Nope. She must have slept on the top blanket because there was lipstick on the edge of the blanket which the pillow covered. THEN they wanted to charge us more than our first room!!! Unbelievable! I can NOT make this up! DO...
