I called in to order at 8:20pm and a woman answered with, "hello, this is the 47th st East Jersey Mike's, please hold." Nothing new, Jersey Mike's is generally busy. After a few moments a man answered, so to be sure I asked again, is this the 47th st location, to which he confirmed. I gave my order, 3 giant subs (2 hot and 1 cold) and he provided the ETA of 20 minutes. I arrived at 8:30pm and took a seat, noting how busy it was. After 15min I noticed some subs that may have been mine and asked the woman at the register (who's voice I recognized from the initial answer) and gave my name. She answered no, but asked if I ordered over the app? I responded no, I called in and provided my full name to confirm the order. She quickly dismissed my assertion that I called this location and insinuated I had called the other Palmdale store. I was a bit taken back, but explained that I was absolutely sure this was the location I called and ordered including the verification from earlier during the call. She again asked if I was sure to which I responded simply, "yes, I'm absolutely sure". I gave my order details and she pointed to the man cooking the hot subs, and said he must be preparing it now. I politely thanked her and took my seat. 5 more minutes went by and she called me over. Again she asked, "are you sure you call this location?" And I noticed she was holding my order slip with my full name scribed on it. I took a deep breath and confirmed it was, and she started to ring me up. I realized she only had 2 subs but noticed a sub nearing completion which matched my order for a cold sub. I pulled my attention back to the register and asked to include 2 fountain drinks. She looked up as if my request was an insult, I pardoned myself and prompted the request again in a more endearing voice. She added the drinks and when she realized the cold sub wasn't ready she added, "we will make it right now". It's now 8:50pm and my wife and mother-in-law are waiting on me to bring their lunch (the subs) to work. I waited 5 minutes while I noticed the absolute chaos that had apparently been this location's entire operating procedure. Mixing orders up and losing track of what is being attended to and by whom. After 5 minutes I couldn't wait any longer, the shop was closing at 9pm and I was already late. Without my drinks or the cold sub I informed the woman behind the counter I would return tomorrow and left, taking notice of each of the 3 women's expressions. The two subs we got were great, and I genuinely love Jersey Mike's, but I'm never going to that location again. They were fully staffed with 4 people and couldn't get 3 subs and 2 fountain drinks in 35 minutes. Yes, it was busy but I've been to the other locations which are smaller and have more traffic and they have never messed up an order before.
Update: I went back to the shop to get my sub and 2 drinks today. The manager was unbelievably rude, incredulous at the notion of the events that transpired. She took the receipt wrote my name on it and snapped, "I'll have to add it to the list". I see why the staff act the way they do. General the managers at Jersey Mike's are kind and understanding. Then decide to finish multiple orders before wrapping my subs, all this while the staff is having a personal conversation taking their time to prep the food. I'm a very patient person but you should not make a customer wait to try to make multiple orders at the same time. If I was there first they should have just finished taking care of me and move to next customer. Then once charged for my food over $60 worth the worker just hands a bag for me to bag my own food.
