Lovely little desert diner located on the edge of a quiet little high desert town. The parking lot is huge and mostly empty. The patrons will vary from house-less individual, passerby going to Vegas from OC, rancher from around the corner, to migrant family looking for work. All are welcome and the portions are hefty.
The staff are friendly and warm. The food portions are enormous. The prices are very competitive, if not low.
I had the Chile Verde omelet. I got it with home fries and a biscuit covered in gravy. There were no upcharges and no extra add-ons. This could have fed me for 3 days, but it only cost 15 dollars. I rolled through this sleep spot at 730 in the morning because I couldn't check into my hotel room at such an early time and I needed to kill some time. Let me tell you, it was a lovely time watching the different patrons walk through the 1980s, stuck in time, door and enjoy themselves. The building is old and the walls tell stories of the past, but the country decor hides it well, and the food eclipses any locations related negative remarks I may have.
Give this quiet spot a try and learn why there are multiple Karen's kitchens...
Read moreWow!! Karen's Kitchen 2 is AWESOME! Nestled an hour or so north of L.A., be prepared to be Amazed by their Breakfast/Lunch selections. We got their Special of the Day which consisted of two Large Banana Pancakes, along with 2 eggs (made to order) and 2 strips of bacon (which could've also been sausage as well. In addition, we got the Full Order HOBO, where they take Bell Peppers, Onions and Hash Browns; fry them up nice and brown, then scramble in 3 fresh eggs and serve it along with Toast or Biscuits and Gravy! Although we ordered toast, do yourself a favor and ask for a side of gravy, as it was Out of This World!! Our waitress Laura, was super pleasant and always there filling up our coffee's and confirming Everything was Okay. Will I come back? Oh, you betcha! I'm gonna try every dang thing on their menu!! An All Around A++++. Make sure you're there before 2pm,...
Read moreFirst allow me to say that the food here is absolutely excellent. This has been a gem to find to get good breakfast. However, the experience I had today was intolerable. I wanted to make a takeout order for my wife and I and first I tried to call, but the phone number doesn't work. So I went in person and arrived at 1:40. I made my order and it wasn't anything extreme, just liver and onions, with pancakes and coffee, that was it. I stand around waiting for 25 minutes and then the ticket is given back to me and I'm told that the kitchen can't make it, and that the absolute latest they can receive an order is at 1:30, a full half hour before closing time.
If that was the case, then why couldn't they tell me at 1:40 that it was too late to take my order? Instead I'm standing around for 25 minutes and then leave empty handed. This is...
