I do not generally write reviews, however a remarkable level of abysmal customer service has led me to leave this review. I used to shop regularly at Backcountry, however I recently purchased a pair of size 11 men's shoes which were the same length as size 8.5 men's shoes. The customer service involved telling me that the shoes ran small. A pair of shoes 2.5 sizers smaller than the stated size is not "running small" - that is a defect in the sizing of the product. The customer service agent simply ended the conversation there. When I complained, I got the same customer service agent - Fernando - who just said they could not be returned. Why would they have the same agent respond to a complaint about the agent? Unfortunately, I used PayPal for the purchase so cannot refuse payment. Spammers. Do not give them your email or phone!!! This place is like a desperate and creepy boomer used car salesman sending spam daily plus they call begging for info that they can sell plus try to push product. The worst part about it is even unsubscribed they still do it, daily! I was interested in making a potential purchase, but now I'm not, and won't in the future ever because of spam. Oh yeah, tried to contact them request to stop spamming only to chat with AI bot who then asks for email before moving forward so it could it spam while also trying desperately to make a sale. Prices aren't even that great with better deals elsewhere without the spam. Eshitification maxed. Spam so much they...

I use to be a big fan of Backcountry but not no more.

Backcountry has a giant online website but is drastically underwhelming in California retail presence.

Recent changes by California banned PFAS in sporting goods and attire. Pretty much this is in everything.

On their website they carry brands not sold in stores, yet will NOT ship to California.

Why open a retail presence in California when your parent company picks and chooses what to sell to CA consumers?

Competitors all carry and sell the same items Backcountry will NOT ship to California buyers.

Therefore, California residents are now forced to pay full retail price from Backcountry competitors thus...
