Great coffee, Poor service quality

I had the experience of coming around 10 times lately in this cafe to buy a coffee. Exactly 6 times the store did not have the coffee ready. Strange.. 6 times they made me wait for around 10 minutes to prepare the coffee, each and every time, while behaving just as if that was a normal situation. The reason we return is that we really like the coffee, and we live very nearby in Palo Alto.

I was wondering every time and then finally I asked. Am I allowed as a customer to kindly ask if I don’t enjoy something? -It was unexpected. And repeated 6 times. So, yes, I think I do. The person working started giving me some excuses accusing the previous shift for the circumstances. To my bigger surprise, finally, he told me that I’m coming late. It was very rude, it was 10am and I came mostly between 9.30-10am. Overall, I was astounded. I did not expect excuses, maybe just an acknowledgment and better service next time.

I did not want to leave a bad review "just" because of that. I came 2-3 times after and met the same person. I was treated in a very impolite manner. Very different from the customers in front of me. Is really that a way how your treat unsatisfied customers?

We came in for breakfast and we were more than a little disappointed with the experience. My boyfriend ordered first on his own, and received his meal last after an entire family of four and my food. I got the breakfast crêpe and he got the carne mechada arepa. His single cornmeal bun had no seasoning or buttery taste to it but was more like plain cream of wheat with a 2-3 oz portion of a not so great beef stew, it could have strongly benefited from some type of salsa or something. The salad side was decent but the flavors of the dressing did not complement the entree. Mine was plain, the Gouda tastes more like a light Swiss and the over all flavor was pancake with little else shining through. Over all the food was very plain and over priced. From the photos and pricing we saw before we ordered were expecting bigger portions and bold flavors but sadly this was not the case. If you’re desperate for a little caffeine I’m sure this place works but if you’re looking for a good meal I don’t recommend it. Although even for drinks I wasn’t completely happy with my latte and the orange juice was $4.25 for a very basic store bought juice even the drinks weren’t the best. Won’t...

I like ordering here. Except today at 9:45 AM when I went to pick up my order, the larger lady behind the counter chose to use her visibly dirty, gloveless, fresh-out-of-the-trash-bin hands to touch the top of my coffee cup, including the drinking spout. Then she rummaged through the entire bucket of stoppers with those same hands, touching each and every part that actually enters the drink. When I brought this disgusting, unsanitary and alarmingly unsafe behavior to her attention, she actually began yelling at me and told me that I’m at liberty to go eat someplace else. Of course I’m fully aware of my freedom to choose where and when I dine, but I think her managers and the owners would love to know that their employees are violating the health code and then pushing customers away. Subsequent to this unfortunate interaction, the smaller lady behind the counter put on gloves to replace my coffee cup lid....
