My friend and I had an interesting conversation about AI at Sweet Maple. It can write poems, essays, emails, love letters, resumes, and respond to texts for us. There goes the, "I'm a bad texter" excuse. We can just live in a world where we don't need to formulate any ideas or opinions of our own. No need for critical thinking or learning how to articulate our feelings and emotions. I don't even need to accurately recall little details from my time at Sweet Maple to leave an elaborate review. I just need to summarize my experience in a few words and then ChatGPT will do the heavy lifting for me. "Write positive review on breakfast restaurant with really good bacon", ChatGPT will spew out 5 paragraphs in less than 10 seconds. When I asked ChatGPT to "write an argument against the use of ChatGPT", it wasn't as quick, but it still ended up raising some valid points. I guess there are more reviews on breakfast restaurants with good bacon than arguments against the use of ChatGPT on the Internet. Maybe ChatGPT can use this review to help perfect it's algorithm for "arguments against ChatGPT". I don't know why I'm so bitter towards ChatGPT, I actually just had a really good talk with it this morning. It can be used to challenge your way of thinking...that's good. At the end of the day it's just a tool, people are going to end up using that tool in many different ways: good, bad, neutral. Kind of like how I've decided to use reviews as a source of ranting, personal tangents, and a tiny bit of food commentary. Honestly, past me is upset at AI. I remember getting so many points marked off in school essays because I didn't properly cite my resources, it was considered plagiarism. ChatGPT pretty much just said they're going to plagiarize a vast amount of written words and give nobody credit. Anyway, as for Sweet Maple, the coffee, food, and service was amazing. This place also facilitated a good conversation between two real...

The galbi appetizer meat quality was not bad, with nicely julienned bell peppers and cucumbers. Two pieces fell apart and were awkward to eat, but as long as you aren't trying to impress your date with your table manners, that shouldn't be a problem (and other two pieces held together perfectly with a fork). The sauces make it salty and sweet, if that's not your thing, you could probably request no sauce.
We are in the minority in that we like our bacon savory and not sweet. Husband was able to get regular bacon, and not the millionaire bacon on his burger. Requests for no cheese, no buttered bun were honored, and he enjoyed his brioche bun with arugula, fried egg, tomato, and aioli. It came with pickled shallots and pepperoncinis, and fries were fried crisp.
Fried chicken smelled and tasted faintly of bacon. I ordered the classic, which server (something might have been lost in translation as English was his second language) described as a spicy sauce, but we didn't see or taste any sauce. The coating is as crisp crunchy as Vons, there were some bald patches on four out of five pieces, and fat was not rendered on some skin, but overall better than Vons which is impressive given that this isn't a fried chicken joint. The mini fried rice cakes were a cute touch.
With Korean, Thai, American and a varied menu with sweets and savories, it's a fun place even for two fuddy duddies who don't...
Read moreWe (group of 6) came here to celebrate a friend's 25th birthday 🎂 🥳 and would hands-down come again! :) Overall, the food tasted good but average, the presentation was on-point, the service was excellent, and the vibes were refreshingly relaxing.
FOOD🧇: Compared to previous brunch places I've been to, the presentations of the dishes were unique, pretty, and surprisingly impressive. However, the texture/flavor was only slightly above average. I ordered "Pimped Up Ramyun" and it is exactly how it's described: a bowl of Shin Ramen that's had extra stuff (🫑+🍄+🥓) added to it. It tasted mildly spicy, and the flavors were good, but it's not something I would order again. Do have to say that the Millionaires Bacon included lived up to its name, and it tasted deliciously crunchy and sweet (like maple syrup). Overall, if you're looking for novelty, Sweet Maple has excellent variety but for the price, the texture and flavors were not memorable.
SERVICE👌: We waited for a half-hour 🕕 before being seated (not bad considering the huge crowd!) after arriving at 10:50 AM. The waiter was pleasant and attentive. I was impressed by his consideration when he asked if we wanted a birthday candle🕯 for our friend after learning about the occasion. 😊 The food came pretty fast too (10-15 minutes).
VIBES 😎: Perfect for meeting up with friends, cute photo ops 📸 (especially for foodies!), or a date. A little bit too noisy for intimate settings but great for something fun/casual.
Next time I come, I want to try more of their Korean 🍖 dishes or 🥞/...
