La Baguette — Restaurant in Palo Alto

This bakery is cute! The food was quite delicious. The baguette is super crispy! Food is a little on the pricey side, but after walking around, you get hungry and don't mind paying the price... I got a lunch combo of corn chowder with a salami baguette for about $13.

I had to take off points for the terrible customer service here. I was here with my friend and we were treated quite differently than people who were a different race. As we were waiting for our food, we noticed that the other Asians weren't treated very nicely either. The two women that worked there seemed like they hated our job towards us. They were specifically nicer to white people though.

In addition, their system of calling out orders is terrible. They just call out what you order (no names, no numbers). While I was there, another person ordered the same thing I did, so I apparently took her order. One of the women who worked there told the other one that it was mine inititally. 2 minutes later (my friend was still waiting for her food) one of them asks me "can I see that?" Then grabs the bag from me (without saying anything) and gives me another one (again, without saying anything).

Because of these two women, I don't know if I'll come back to this location. They pretty much ruined the...

Tried this bakery back in 2021, when I needed to kill time, waiting for family to finish up at the hospital. I went a little crazy because they have SO MANY delicious items to offer. While there, I had their Chinese Chicken Salad with Florentine Sandwich. They were DELICIOUS; full of flavor; and made me feel the healthy kind of full. I originally ordered a half sandwich; however, the staff gave me a full one because they felt I had waited a while for my order. It wasn’t upset or complaining because I knew they were busy, but the extra care they took really showed me how much they care about their customers. The blackberry cheese danish; fruit tart; mango dessert; and breads were also super tasty. I haven’t been back since, because Palo Alto is a bit out of my way; however, I definitely want to plan a trip there soon JUST so I can enjoy their delicious food and take home some bakery items for the rest of the family to try. 5 stars! Staff is incredibly rude. Came in here, stood at the counter, and two ladies were chatting about their lives and ignored me for a couple minutes. Then they both even came up to the register, I was waiting for them to acknowledge me bc I didn’t want to interrupt their convo, and they continued to look and speak to one another. Then a family of three came in behind me, and they welcomed them. I said, excuse me I haven’t ordered yet. I ordered the fresh orange juice, saw them take it out of a tray where all the ice had melted and it wasn’t refrigerated. I drank the juice and got a horrible stomach ache. This is a food poisoning risk and should at been properly refrigerated if not actually made fresh. I am pregnant, and this is a serious issue. They...
