a little disappointed, the menu should be a little more informative especially if you're not from the area. The seafood platter just says whitefish and crab legs and scallops It doesn't tell you what kind. When asking our waiter who went by big Griff he did not have any answers for any questions He had to go and have someone else come over. We were told it came with either mahi-mahi or grouper so we picked grouper to find out later that we had a $6 additional charge which we were not told about. if you think you're getting crab legs you are but they're blue crab, was glad it was sea scallops instead of bay scallops. I serve it was apparently sick He had a sniffly nose and kept touching his nose running his wrist across it in hand and observed serving food and drinks without washing his hands. When asked if he was sick because my husband is immunocompromised He stated no it was just allergies that they were all suffering from allergies! We called about the $6 additional charge and was pretty much told well if you've already eaten the group but there's not much we can do about it! The bartender Derek was awesome and the IPAs were great as well as the she crab soup! We were not aware of the closing time as we were there just to enjoy and celebrate a birthday dinner ordered the beet salad and was told by our server that we had to hurry up and order our dinner because they were going to be closing in 25 minutes! would have liked more of a warning, we had ordered appetizers had a couple of IPAs wanted to have salad and then our meal, but ended up having to take our salad to go. so we would have time to eat our meal. kind of a bummer. I don't know about you but in my days you brought that menu home and started it so you knew how to answer the questions. I think it's great to give younger people a chance to have a job but they should know their job while doing it. not to mention the health concerns of ending up with the flu a day or so later after a 100$+ evening out....
Read moreMy first time at this restaurant was on Valentine's day. They were booked and filled to capacity with people waiting, as you can imagine it would be on this particular day. The hostess invited us to sit at the bar since the tables were full and it'd be an hour or more wait. I can't thank this young woman enough for the suggestion. While there, I was seated next to an older couple who walked out without paying their $100 tab. Despite this, the two men working the bar area kept up a pleasant and entertaining persona, even through the chaos and the absolute crazy busyness of this place. I was impressed with how the bartenders handled themselves despite people taking advantage of how busy they were.
The food is excellent! The menu is limited on Valentine's day and pricing may be different (like many other restaurants). However, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. From the perfectly fried oyster appetizer, to the huge seafood platter, to the tenderloin, even the asparagus (I'm not getting paid to claim this lol) was fantastic. The drinks were great also, with local beers on tap, as well as signature drinks especially for Valentine's day. The pours are decent too. My vodka and lemonade was perfect! If you are a wine drinker, there's a decent selection to choose from.
The location is pretty easy to find (even if you have someone gently encouraging you to take the scenic route). I will definitely be back the next time...
Read moreDisappointing evening. We've dined at Alice's before, several times, and have never had an experience like this before. It took right at two hours from the time we entered until the time we left. There were only 4 people in our party. A couple of apologies from our server were given, but nothing else. Two people in our party had drinks made with the wrong liquor--should have been whiskey and they were made with vodka. No apology there. They remade the drinks, but still charged for the ones made with Vodka. When our meals finally arrived, some of the dishes were cold--SheCrab Soup, and one of the sides didn't even arrive with one of the entrees--it arrived later. The portions were incredibly small. One order was the filet, a hamburger patty would have been larger in size. One of his sides was a sweet potato. It arrived as three slices, each slice a little bigger than a silver dollar, and cold. Our server said he was acting as bartender, oyster shucker, and waiter --he was all over the place. He would arrive back at our table with perspiration on his forehead and face. The experience would have been better if maybe some bread was offered, desserts thrown in, some kind of compensation for the time it was taking and the poor quality of the food. Having been there before, and having promoted the restaurant to the friends in our party, we were gravely disappointed and...
