While my wife and I were down in Panama City Beach, we decided to look for some Caribbean food for dinner. We were hoping to find something good like we had when we lived in Miami, Florida.
We see this on the Google search and decided to check them out. Not to long of a drive from PCB and the establishment was easily found. There was plenty of parking, the outside looked well maintained, considering its right next to a gas station.
We walked in and were pleasantly greeted by a young man working behind the hot food display. After looking over the menu and a few questions, we finally decided our orders and sat an available table.
My selection of oxtail, garlic yuca, and black beans and rice immediately brought back memories of my mom's home cooking. After my first bite, I was in food heaven!
The flavors from everything waweres amazing! So so good. I couldn't believe I was having this amazing meal outside of South Florida and my late mother not being the one who made it.
My wife was speechless and absolutely enjoying every bite of her selections. Her beef empanadas were outstanding, to say the least. We made a valiant effort to finish the generous portions but threw in the towel and asked for two to go boxes and two more empanads for the sunset on the beach snack.
A few more days left on our trip and eating at other local favorite locations on or near the beach we came to the conclusion that havana nights is by far our first choice for dinner lunch and even breakfast.
On our way back home we stopped there to have a breakfast egg sandwich on some cuban bread, needless to say, that it was also fantastic. Ordered two more beef empanads for the ride up to Central Alabama.
If you're in the area, stop by and order anything off the menu. You will not be...
Read moreHusband had a random craving for Cuban food while out in Panama City, so we stopped into Havana Nights for take out because they were the closest to us at the time. We ordered two sandwiches: one media noche, and one original Cuban. Both came with fries.
We have eaten a good amount of Cuban food in our lives, with family in Miami and having lived in Tampa Bay for years. And WOW!! Were we ever impressed! The Husband was so distracted with his food, he didn’t speak except to exclaim over and over how it was melting in his mouth. I probably would have been jealous, but then we swapped halves and it was all good. No, I mean, it was ALL GOOD. The fries were hot, and perfectly done. The media noche had the most subtle sweetness, and the original was on par with the best I’ve ever tasted.
If you like food with awesome flavor, this is definitely a place to add to your list. We will likely be eating here frequently to work our way through the menu. Worth every mile of the hour+ drive.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Havana Nights! And thank you for serving us delicious food with fast, friendly service. See you...
Read moreTraveling for work and always like to stop by local spots for good food and Cuban food is always tough to pass up. Staying in a hotel nearby and saw this place on Google and decided to give it a shot. Glad I did!! Nice clean spot in a shopping center beside a gas station (ya kinda know it's gonna be good already). Interior was super clean and well maintained. Staff was more than nice and very helpful. Ordered the Cubano with fries and one chicken and one beef empanada with a drink. Came to $20. I spend that at McD's or Taco Bell these days. If I was local, I'd just eat here every day. The food was enough for two and I brought exactly half of it back with me to the hotel to eat tomorrow, so $10 per meal. You can't beat that. The gentleman taking care of me was really nice and the food was fantastic! Don't forget to get the sauces. The green is my favorite. Great music going and judging by the speaker outside, I'm sure this place gets lively. Couldn't have felt more invited. They have an awesome bakery selection, but man, I left soooo full eating only half my meal. 5 ⭐ all the way. Don't pass...
