Decent food, typical prices/selection. Would be 4 stars, but docked one for service.
My roommate and I waited for 85 minutes for a few rolls and a couple appetizers for takeout on a Tuesday evening.
After we ordered, a group of ~8 came in and were seated and appeared to receive sushi before we got our orders.
The place wasn't overly busy and seemed to have adequate staff. I didn't see any large takeout orders before us or any massive sushi orders delivered to the tables, so I'm not sure what the delay was.
At first I thought maybe our orders were complete and she forgot to bring them out because when I stood up to say something she brought mine out right away, but then we waited another ~10 min for my roommate's food, despite ordering at the same time. The hostess/cashier apologized, but didn't offer any explanation.
Soup was barely warm and the deep-fried roll I ordered was not warm or crispy anymore by the time we got home (~5 minute drive), maybe because it was packed into the same tray as the cold rolls.
For reference, I've worked in a sushi restaurant with a similar number of tables, higher takeout volume, and half the staff and we still didn't have anywhere near an hour-and-a-half wait for simple takeout orders. Because I've been on the other side of it, I'm usually patient, but this was beyond what I would consider reasonable.
Maybe they had an off day, maybe the cashier/hostess was new and forgot to pack our orders. I don't know, but I'll probably try somewhere else next time unless I have plenty of...
Read moreOverall experience was DELICIOUS.
I had Takoyaki and the Sushi Pizza (pictured) as well as a Hawaii roll (also pictured) and all of it was wonderful.
The Takoyaki was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and had plenty of tako pieces. There was two sauces on top which gave it just the right touch of spicy flavor. This restaurant is, by far, my favorite place to get takoyaki in the area.
The Sushi Pizza was an absolute delight. Thin triangles of sushi rice wrapped in nori & panko then fried, and absolutely STACKED with pieces of salmon, mango, avocado, and two sauces which really brought all the flavors together wonderfully. Usually there would be green onions as well but I had those removed due to personal preference.
Hawaii roll was a standard roll but still delicious and worth it. Contains salmon, avocado, and pineapple.
My husband had the takoyaki as well, and a Combo which came with soup and allowed for picking 3 rolls. Some of those rolls could have been a little more stuffed for the price (the 3 Combo meant each roll was about 5 dollars each) especially the Tuna roll he recieved which was actually extremely tiny in comparison to other rolls. He also got a 4th roll (pictured behind the Hawaii Roll) which I do not recall the name of but was one of the specialty rolls. He enjoyed his meal.
Service was acceptable and friendly.
Will return again...
Read moreWent for lunch time on the 4th. It was empty when we went in, but staff was very accommodating and friendly. They started all of us off with miso soup even before we ordered and then offered seconds, which I obliged.
Two of us got a two roll combo and then a 3 roll for the other person. I also got a sea scallop sashimi, a first for me. Seemed pretty fresh and wasn't too slimy. The spicy salmon roll was ok, didn't wow me. It had the sauce on the inside of the roll. The spicy California has it on the outside, which was a better roll in my opinion.
All rolls came out on ships and was presented nicely. Rolls were loose but stayed together when picked up. The sushi chef made a little "sushi sandwich" as he called it. It had a mix of salmon, yellow tail, and a couple others and then served it with smoked soy sauce. That sauce was amazing and gave the fish a nice flavor. He talked to us about various types of fish and gave a little more information on what else they normally get.
For around 25 dollars we got 4 rolls, 3 miso soups, and was able to try others while we talked. Quick, easy, and cheap lunch. Would recommend and they've only been open for...
