Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience this morning. A few months ago, my daughter and I visited and enjoyed the food, so we decided to bring my husband and son this time. My son ordered the steak and eggs because I mentioned how delicious they were during our previous visit. However, the plate came with a skirt steak instead of the sirloin we expected. My son requested a medium-well steak, but it was served well-done.
I spoke with the server, who said there was nothing he could do because it was a skirt steak. I asked to speak with the manager, as I felt the server should have offered a solution, especially since it was for a 13-year-old boy. With over 15 years in the food industry, including roles as a server, manager, bar manager, and general manager, I believe understanding the menu and providing excellent customer service are crucial.
When I spoke with Jeff, the manager, I pointed out that the menu listed sirloin, not skirt steak. He informed me that the menu on the website was incorrect. I clarified that I wasn't looking for a discount, just a positive dining experience. Jeff interrupted me and said he would handle the situation before walking away. After leaving, I checked the menu outside and found that it indeed listed SIRLOIN.
I tried to handle the situation respectfully and calmly, given how uncomfortable these situations can be for everyone involved.
General Manager: It would be beneficial to train your staff thoroughly on the menu and consider additional customer service training. Customers seek a pleasant dining experience, and it’s disappointing to feel that only the financial aspect is prioritized over service. I would also appreciate a return call, as promised. Updating your staff with any menu changes will be helpful for you and your team.
Jeff: If I were in your position, I would feel embarrassed and disappointed. If the management lacks knowledge, it’s likely that the staff will too. Leading by example and investing in customer service training could significantly improve your performance. Plus you will be learning new skills.
Thank you for your attention to...
Read moreI had the short rib enchiladas, which were phenomenal but.. Our waiter that we had needs to switch industries or something. He made a couple of comments about my friends not buying drinks when I was going to buy a drink but was indecisive. As if he got commissions off the drinks or something. He then made comments about my friends about how they must've been starving because they ate their food really fast and he looked specifically at one of my friend's who may have been a little heavier.. I felt bad for him because he had an arm sling and seemed like he did not want to be there. Anyways, when it came time to pay we were all splitting checks I thought it would be better to tip him with cash (IDK maybe because it is cash and it is cultural norm that paying in cash is preferred over card). I had $8 in cash and I folded it and put it under the plate, then he stops me and says 'wow, that's offensive. At that point just pay with card'. I said "excuse me" because I thought he was confused or something. He then says 'tipping me only $4 is so offensive'. I was caught so off guard at this point so I told him that it was $8 as I showed him. Then my friend who is more confrontational than me confronted him and explained how unacceptable his behavior towards us was. He then proceeded with a sob story about how another table he had didn't leave a tip and it was just extremely weird and awkward. He was apologizing because he got called out and it was just unpleasant. My friend did talk to the manager but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I've worked food service so I know how it can be, but this employee's attitude and service was completely unacceptable. There are many places to eat on the strip, now I know what I would pick for the next option. Oh, and I still ended up tipping him $5 on my card although he...
