Truly creative cocktails for the adventurous drinker. My wife and I stopped to grab a drink we had seen online that follows the Alice in Wonderland theme called the "We're all mad here." There are three levels to this lounge and I would be lying if I didn't say it was confusing to find how to get in. Not sure if it's how they do it on the weekends, but all the entrances were roped off with signs that said reserved up. There were no workers at the entrances either. After wandering around for 15 minutes trying to find a way in, we finally saw a worker near a blocked off entrance and asked if it was possible to come inside. She said wait a moment and boom, we had our own table on the 1.5 floor. Strange, but it worked out. Our waitress was fantastic and very bubbly and showed us the menu. Drinks and snacks here are overpriced as to be expected, but they are all so dressed up they almost seem a bit over the top. We knew the drink my wife wanted to try, but as I perused through the menu trying to make sense of the lengthy list of ingredients in these signature cocktails, it became confusing. There were plenty of ingredients that I was unfamiliar with and honestly, it seemed like they were going for that. Pretentious? Yes, a little, but still classy. I settled on the "Kiss and Tell" which seemed to have tequila, pineapple and some other stuff I wasn't sure about, but sounded more promising. Service was great and drinks came fast. Presentation here is outstanding. Tiny close pins, cork lid glass bottles, perfectly round ice cubes and all the tiny details that really glow up these offerings. This is what this place is known for. My wife's drink came somewhat deconstructed and she finished it by mixing the two vials it came with to make some unique color changes happen. Both drinks came with dried pineapple, basically pineapple jerky, that was pretty good. Although the presentation was next level, the drinks were far too busy and ambitious than we had hoped. Flavors upon flavors upon flavors were crammed into these cocktails with what seemed like the need to overstimulate your taste buds and not so much about finding a harmonious balance of flavor. Her drink was gin based with citrus and other powerful flavors added in. I thought hers was not bad. Little strong In some areas and not something I could drink much of. Mine was kind of rough. The majority of what I tasted was pineapple and what I could only describe as a tobacco-like flavor. I do not have a refined palette or high-end tastes, so this could be me just totally out of my league, but I can't imagine many people enjoying such a frantic cocktail with such bold and contrasting flavors. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff and the uniqueness of this place. It's definitely a spot I wouldn't return to, but that's because its not for me. If your into trendy, high-end cocktails that take you way outside the box, I'm sure you will enjoy this. Of course the price were high, it's Vegas, it's a sheek, fancy bar with cocktails that have a grocery list of ingredients, so I wasn't shocked paying $50 for two cocktails. It was an experience, not a great one for me, but I can respect that some will and that these guys are definitely putting in the effort to make...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for the second weekend of the Rose.Rabbit.Lie. (RRL) pop-up.
Brief history-RRL had opened in 2013 at the Cosmopolitan and was a pioneer of the Vegas supper club with roving eye-catching entertainment, inventive cocktails, and delicious creative bites. The location during that time was terrible in my opinion, being in the relative boonies on the second floor beyond the buffet, long before the corridor linking the Cosmopolitan to the Bellagio and Vdara was built. The pandemic shutdown probably sealed its doom. RRL closed in 2021; Superfrico is in that space now.
Imagine my delight when I read that RRL was returning to the Cosmopolitan as a limited-run pop-up on level 1.5 of the Chandelier. Unless RRL is extended, the final weekend is April 25-26.
Checked in at Chandelier's level 2 and joined the entry line, which moved at a reasonable pace. Then, was directed to decend the stairs to level 1.5; another check-in, then an escort to (my choice) a seat at the bar. Got a complimentary mini-bottle of water and time to figure out from the wee RRL menu what to drink and eat.
Through the Looking Glass ($22): Smooth sweet/sour bite with a bit of tongue-tingling/numbing sensation. Had two.
Heavenly Egg ($14): Dang, but this was amazing, rich creamy savoriness. Wish I had yielded to my insane but strong inclination to order another instead of moving on to the
Oysters on the Half Shell ($36): Don't misunderstand, the kusshis were delicious, with a good bit of meat in the shell and a tasty citrus mignonette. But it says something (to me at least) that I'd rather have dropped another $14 for one egg over the $36 for these six oysters.
Caviar Tacos ($25): If I had busted on JosƩ AndrƩs' Bar Centro for its (at the time) $25 taco, I am going to be fair and do the same here. A delicious bite to be sure, and perhaps a touch more substantial than Bar Centro's. Did not care for the too-salty potato crumble serving as the taco's bed.
Ended with a Meet the Grahams ($22) from the Chandelier's cocktail menu. Fantastic just-sweet-enough finish.
Value: For the cocktails, well above average for a Strip casino lux bar for taste, alcohol content, and creativity. Although it did seem that the glassware for my chosen drinks was on the smaller side. For the food, I'm a bit torn. The main event for each dish was delicious; the priciness of each I cannot ignore.
Service: Really engaging and as attentive as possible from Dee (Darion) and Wolfgang considering the extremely busy floor, and all rest of the staff were very friendly too.
Atmosphere: Over the top (and loud) as befits both the Chandelier and Rose.Rabbit.Lie. RRL had shimmying flappers, tap dancers, card-carrying fortune tellers, and an illusionist possessing a magical crystal sphere. Music was tunes from the likes of Lady Gaga done...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in Vegas celebrating my husbandās 50th birthday last weekend. On 9/1, after a pricey birthday dinner at STK, we went down to the Chandelier to have some birthday drinks. The place was packed and there were 5 of us, but only 1 seat available at the bar. We ordered 3 pricey drinks and my husband noticed a table open up that had couches, so we decided to sit there to enjoy our drinks. Shortly after we sat down, this very rude waitress (short blonde- couldnāt see her name tag) informed that we are not able to sit there unless we order a drink with the waitress. Now, we already had drinks, and Vegas has a one drink at a time policy, so we told her we were celebrating and would order more drinks shortly. She then came back about a minute later, informing she needed the tables and now they were reserved and was rushing us to leave rather rudely, as if we were just squatting and hadnāt just purchased drinks. Frustrated, I asked her why she was being rude because her attitude and demeanor clearly showed she had a problem beyond us sitting at those tables. We were dressed to impress and celebrating, so why she was being so rude was beyond me. I thought this was a classy atmosphere. She then said āshall I call security?ā. I was completely taken aback, and asked for a manager. I also asked one of her colleagues behind the bar for a manager- of course they never came as they chuckled talking smack behind the bar. For people visiting Vegas from out of town, there is no way for people to know about whatever policy exists regarding sitting in these areas, as there is nothing posted informing guests of such. However, the fact that we were paying customers, we should not have been treated this way at all. Sour ending to what started as a fabulous night to celebrate my husbandās milestone. We were the only Black customers in the place at that time, it was clear she did not want us there and no one else cared to help. I am a MGM Rewards member and always stay at MGM properties in Vegas. MGM recently took over the Cosmopolitan and I have always wanted to stay there. However , the rudeness, bias and lack of empathy displayed toward us was enough for us not to EVER come back to the Cosmopolitan hotel ever againā¦.and will consider booking hotels in the Caesarās Entertainment chain. Your employees need training and/or you end to weed out employee who do not feel comfortable serving Black customers. Very disappointing for what I thought was a...
