Finally made it here to take advantage of my bday gift - a FREE value slam. Of course, we ended up spending money on other items so, as per usual, N.I.L.I.F. đ
Upon initial arrival, the dining area felt clean and welcoming. There were a few groups of diners as well as some going solo and the noise level was unobtrusive. Our server was very attentive and sweet. We were acknowledged almost immediately and seated just as fast. The booth seats and menus were pretty icky, but I just wiped them down quickly and mentioned to my dining partner that I'm sure the staff is incredibly sparse while being expected to "do it all" still...something's gotta give, ya know?
As for the food, the French toast was super yummy - light and fluffy with the perfect amount of crisp. The value slam includes a generous two slices with butter and syrup, if desired. Now, I can't remember the last time I ate more than a couple of bites of my eggs when dining out. Yes, I'm picky. Iiwii. But the last thing I expected was to thoroughly enjoy my cheesy scrambled eggs. They were also incredibly fluffy, mixed well to completely integrate the cheese into every bite. The eggs that I've been served are often unpleasantly greasy/buttery imo but these were anything but. The chef found a balance between puddles of oil and dry as toast that had me scarfing them up voraciously along with the equally pleasant ham steak I received.
Unfortunately, they weren't ALL winners this time. But first! A little backstory. The maple-filled donut holes served hot with cream cheese frosting for dipping were almost as responsible as my bday freebie was for motivating me to visit Denny's on that day. The commercials I'd been seeing had worked their magic on this maple fanatic/donut afficionado/cream cheese frosting lover (The TRIFECTA!) so I had somewhat high hopes. They all came crashing down after the first bite. These holes are huge, first of all. They're also pretty dry due to a strongly skewed ratio of dough to maple filling. It was like they thought they were filling normal-sized holes instead of these dense, giant ones. Plus, the syrup that was there had either soaked into the dry dough already or had congealed into a less enjoyable mouth feel. Moreover, to me, it was disappointingly lacking a strong maple-forward flavor experience. Their saving grace was the audible crunch they made when you had that first bite - they got that part right, for sure.
Lastly, the cream cheese dipping frosting was on par with the other components. I found myself not sneaking my fingertip back in after the initial taste test. And I'm 99.9% positive that's never happened. I usually find it so creamy, slightly tangy and super sweet that I can't stop myself from enjoying every last bit. My guess is the vanilla they use doesn't suit my palate, but all told 1. I really wish we'd stuck with the smaller order of donut holes 2. My "breakfast for dinner" was otherwise delicious and we enjoyed wonderful service 3. My companion seemed to enjoy the Brisket Burnt Ends Sammy & Fries just fine, but had nothing of note to offer and 4. I could see myself likely returning next year for my birthday but, I doubt I'll be...
Read moreWe came here Sunday night after arriving here. We arrive at 9:10pm waiting to get seated. There was no other people inside the store, just us. The waitress at the register had another waitress help seat us. We didnât know they close at 10pm since the app said they were open 24 hour but because of covid-19, we understand their Business hours can change. The waitress couldâve of told us they are closing soon and we couldâve of gone else where but she seated us anyway. She was quite rude and told us they close in 45min and we have 45min to eat. There was just 4 of us, so we order 2 steaks and 2 burger.By the time our good came out it was 10:42pm. Me and my sister in law order our steak medium well and both came out overcooked and tough. The waitress kept walking back and fourth and glancing over. When we got up and left it was 10:57pm. We had to rush our meal which we were disappointed about.
Just a word of advice for Dennyâs; If you are going to close your store at a certain time, please inform your associate so they can inform people at the door so they can go else where and not be told when they are seated. I felt like since we were already seated, we should have the pleasant of enjoying our meal. Your associate can continue doing what they need to do to close the store. We shouldnât be rush to finish our food and get out at 10pm since your store close at 10pm if we paid for our meal already. If anything we probably wouldâve of been done with our meals in 30min. If your store is going to serve us, please donât rush us out because you close at a exact time. There was only 4 of us in 1 booth, no other customer inside the store, it shouldâve of been okay right? Iâm really upset with the customer service here. I hope you can speak with your team. Itâs not okay that it happen to us but we didnât say anything. I hope your service will get better in serving other families. This is a place that families come together for in all American lunch/dinner with their loved one. Itâs suppose to be a place of gather after a games, church, graduation, recital, etc filled with smiles & laughters. Please donât let this happen to another...
Read moreI use the dennys app which is usually extremely convenient but the last 2 times have been a nightmare at this location almost like making food is rocket science couple weeks ago I ordered a good amount of food so I tried to give them some time to prepare it i waited a hour to pick it up and when I show up I had to wait another hour in the lobby after the app said it was done and ready for pick up why tell me to come if you haven't even made the food yet?? I understand if your busy but I would have waited at home if it wasn't ready yet. Then I ordered simple chicken tenders I was busy and it took me a little while to pick it up plus after last time I wanted to give them plenty of time to prepare the food so I didn't have to wait a hour in the lobby. When I showed up they tell me they couldn't make the order cause they are out of chicken tenders and when I tell them they need to refund me he tried to tell me to call and ask for refund cause they were out of chicken tenders but on the app the only number available is that locations phone number after trying to explain to them when i call it's just going to call this location and they will be the ones to answer I am told no no it won't call here of course I call and who answers the same person I was just speaking to. My only question is this if you couldn't make the food cause your out of chicken tenders why wouldn't you call the person who placed the order and tell them sorry we can't make your order instead of making me wait all night then having the app tell me my order is ready making me drive all the way to your location only to tell me you haven't cooked anything and now due to incompetence I have to dispute the charge with chase cause some grown child can't understand the only number provided is the number that is going to call the same person I'm speaking to in front of me idk what is so hard about having common...
