Came to Vegas for work and found most eating places outrageous in price from fast food food court burgers to even widely known national chain restaurants that's usually affordable, Vegas locations are just more. Having said that for context, this all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant was of good value. For the quality of the food served (4.5), quantity (5), with their ambiance(5), I thought the place was a bargain at $36.99 all day.
I usually go to nicer restaurants with my wife, kids or friends. For eating by myself, I usually keep it simple. However when simple pasta dishes are going to cost 25-40 from national Italian joints not made by Italians, and burgers and fries will set you back 15 to 20 in food court, and most things are just plain rip off for what you get, I really felt this Gen Korean BBQ was great,
What I liked : fast and prompt service. This was not a buffet style, but you order from the menu and they bring out the dishes. Each table has its own grill and you self cook /serve. From the time of my order to deliver, it was within 2 to 3 minutes. I loved the speed of the service! I was off eating and cooking and eating with delight! *ambiance The restaurant was nice. If I was younger and trendy restaurants were something I looked for, this would qualify. Not overly done. The place was tastefully set up. food and value Again, the place situated near the strip in Vegas, I thought this place was great! I ordered the salmon carpaccio, basically salmon sashimi with drizzle of soy based sauce with onion garnish. This was excellent! 5 stars. I reordered this for more. The quality was fresh and plated nicely. I could go back just for this dish. Why they called it carpaccio in a Korean restaurant, I have no idea. But the dish was good. The server explained that you can order up to 4 BBQ meat dishes at a time. I had the marinated short rib, sliced brisket, rib eye steak and smoked pork belly. The rib eye was very tender. Not much marbling, but overall very nice to be included in this basic line up (4 stars). You can order premium cuts for $20 extra. I did not. Coming to eat by myself mostly looking for value, I did want to pay the extra 20. But again, this basic line of offering was good for the price! The marinated beef short rib was great! If I would go back, I might just stick to this dish. It was their best of the 4 I ordered (5 stars) . Brisket slices were not tender enough although it looked like it was sliced appropriately (3 stars) . Smoked pork belly (4 stars),
My sad point of this review is that I was full after these 4 meat dishes. Back in my younger days, I might have bragged about getting my money's worth at a buffet. At my age, I sadly cannot eat as much as I used to. But I definitely got my money's worth. The quality and quantity was worth the price and I would go back and recommend it to anyone except to vegans....

Vibe: 5/5. Located near one of the entrances of the Miracle Mile Shopping Mall, Gen is very easy to get to from the strip as long as you know where you are going. The layout inside the restaurant is conducive to large group dining, with 4 and 8 top tables available. A major plus is that the grill exhaust systems are top notch, as we didn't leave smelling like meats.
Service: 3/5. During our visit, I had our group of 6 on the Yelp wait-list. We ended up getting lost in the Miracle Mile finding the restaurant and apparently missed our check-in time by 5-10 minutes. Understanding we were at fault, I told the hostess that we were willing to wait until they were able to seat us. The hostess acknowledged and assured us we would be seated shortly. So we stood to the side of the hostess stand for an additional 20 minutes. During that time we watched several other groups who appeared to be walk ups get seated immediately. I eventually walked back up to the hostess and asked where we were on the wait-list and she realized that she forgot to put us back in the queve. Fortunately, she was very apologetic and had us then seated immediately. Besides this minor hiccup, service during the meal was decent. Our server was relatively available to take meat orders throughout the dinner and drinks were kept filled. This is a cook it yourself KBBQ restaurant instead of having the servers man the grill.
Food: 5/5. Impressive selection of both meats and side dishes. My group of 6 we're pretty hungry by the time we were seated, so we ended up ordering the entire menu. Some of the highlights included the carpaccios, chadol, ribeye and pork belly. Everything was fresh and the meats were nicely cut for easy cooking. For $35, the value simply...
Read moreI recently dined at this chain restaurant, and while I had heard great things about it, my experience left me somewhat disappointed. My group of three, which admittedly looks young, felt a bit discriminated against when we were seated at a table with a "broken" vent, even though there were other open tables available. The vent was stuck low, making it challenging to access our food comfortably.
Our server took our initial order and then seemed to disappear for about an hour. We had to wave down what appeared to be the manager for assistance. Fortunately, the manager was incredibly kind and caring, which improved our experience. He asked our waiter to be more attentive to our table, but by that point, we were already quite frustrated. It felt like we had to micromanage her responsibilities and repeatedly ask for things.
On the plus side, the food was generally good. The meat was marinated well, not overly salty. I highly recommend the sushi, especially the salmon carpaccio; the slices were fresh and fatty. However, I cannot recommend the steak; it lacked seasoning and tasted quite bland. Additionally, they don't provide oil for cooking the steak, which resulted in a sticky texture. I suggest adding a bit of the salt they provide for sides and using the oil from those sides to enhance the steak's flavor.
The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and located in a convenient mall, so the wait time wasn't too bad. Despite the food being good, the subpar service significantly dampened our dining experience. I'm inclined to give this chain another chance, perhaps at a different location, hoping for a more consistent experience...
