THE SHORT VERSION: best restaurant we've been to in our lives, everything is crazy good, but must try the sticky ribs, Kakuni pork belly, pan fried gyoza, crispy whole fish, wagyu steaks, any of their sushi, and their roasted marble potatoes.
This is no doubt the best restaurant we've ever been to. I made a reservation for my group of 4 at 5:45(even though it isn't required), we showed up 15 minutes early. They checked us in, we had some drinks at the bar while we waited. I had the Geisha's Secret and it was very good, my friend had one of the sakes(I believe it was $15 for a glass), and it was awesome as well. Then at 5:45 on the dot they seated us to eat.
Our waiter was Eddie, and he made the night a fantastic experience by being super attentive, friendly, and describing every dish in detail to us as he dropped it off. The highlight of the night was for sure the sticky ribs and the Kakuni(pork belly), in my opinion. I'm not usually a pork eater, but those were some of the best tasting dishes I've ever had in my life! The green beans in Chinese barbecue sauce were great too.
My steak fanatic friend who got the A5 wagyu said it was absolutely out of this world, so that is worth the try as well if you're a big fan of beef!
My boyfriend got the Angry Chicken, and it was really delicious as well. All of the meats are seasoned and cooked to perfection until they just melted off the bone/in your mouth. He also had a salmon roll(6 pieces), and the laksa noodle soup, which were both fantastic.
Our other friend ordered 3 pieces of salmon sashimi and the crispy whole fish, and the pan fried pork gyoza, all of which were also just BOMB. That spicy tofu sauce and the crunch of the perfectly crispy, flakey fish skin are to die for. The pork gyoza was so savory and had this wonderful, hearty umami flavor that lingers in your mouth in the most pleasant way.
Side note, the sushi here is great, DO NOT listen to the 1 star reviews claiming that it is "grocery store quality". That is simply ridiculous and untrue, and as big sushi fans, this is the highest quality sushi we've ever had. We all shared a couple of orders of the roasted marble potatoes, which were so good. Seriously the perfect side or appetizer if you don't know what to get.
Desserts were fantastic as well(we had the cheesecake and fiery chocolate, highly recommend). It cost us around $400 as group, plus a $70 tip. Worth every penny, I think! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food, and even changed our minds about foods we previously weren't huge fans of(me with pork, and my friend with fish). Well, now we know that all this time we were just eating mediocre fish and pork🤣! Thank you for the unforgettable experience, Eddie and the rest of the Morimoto staff! We will definitely be back next time we...
Read moreOh my LORD what a meal! We are big fans of Masaharu Morimoto, and coming here was like being in a dream. The menu looked amazing and we were all so excited to try everything. I came with a party of 6 and we were all thoroughly impressed. The restaurant is beautiful, has a gorgeous bar, and a mesmerizing sushi bar area where you can see all of their fresh fish and ingredients as the masters do their thing behind the counter.
Their menu has an extremely extensive list of sake, so if that's your thing, definitely check out the menu beforehand! Our favorite drinks were the strawberry kiss, and the mango matcha punch, Both amazing.
Some of us got entrees and some of us just did sushi or small plates.
For the sushi, we did a yellowtail roll, a spicy yellowtail roll, and spicy salmon roll. All were out of this world good. This has to be the freshest that sushi could possibly get. Definitely don't miss out on it. I had to splurge and get some king crab sashimi, 2 beautiful pieces and super fresh.
The gyoza was loved by all. Delicious on its own, even without sauce- but still awesome with it. Sake ginger sauce!
One of us got the wagyu beef carpaccio. As this is not my usual thing, somebody in our party said this is some of the best beef carpaccio she's ever had. She couldn't believe how amazing it was and was clearly blown away.
The rock shrimp tempura was a favorite for sure. They came in two different sauces: spicy kochujan and wasabi aioli. I'm not a usual fan of wasabi, but for some magical Morimoto reason, I LOVED that one specifically. Delicious!!
We got the sticky ribs, which came as a 3 piece. They were super meaty and had the tamarind glaze with a little heat. They sure were sticky and they sure were fantastic!!
The kakuni was also a great dish with an amazing piece of pork belly. The rice congee itself didn't have much flavor but was great in a bite with the pork belly.
The angry chicken was a great dish that had tons of deep flavor and was a big portion. If you're a chicken fan, this one is definitely for you.
Our party got both of the hot stone bowls, one with yellowtail and one with kakuni pork. This was a table side experience as everything was mixed together in the hot stone bowl at your table, cooking it all together and keeping warm during the entire stay.
The youngest at our table turned 21 during this dinner and got a dessert for his birthday, the fiery chocolate tart. This was a fantastic dessert as the servers pour lit rum (on fire!) over the dessert to melt a chocolate shell to create an amazing dessert.
Overall, Morimoto was a marvelous experience that we'll all surely be thinking about for a long time. Thanks to everyone who made this...
Read moreHad dinner here last night with a good friend for his 50th. We were a little late, but seated quickly. It had been. few years since I had been here and was excited to come back, unfortunately I can't say it was what I remember It being pre-Covid.
The ambiance is alright, but also we sat on the left side of the dining room, which is a little more open air and less private than the right hand side. Because of that, the vibe wasn't exactly what I hoped for.
Our waiter came over quickly and we needed a moment to decide on some family style options. We ended up ordering the whitefish carpaccio, hamachi tacos, negitoro roll, sticky pork ribs, black cod and some drinks.
The whitefish app was light and refreshing with a crisp acidity. It was service with lettuce and tossed in a delicious tangy yuzu dressing. I can't say I cared for the bite with both, but individually, it was a delightful dish.
The tacos were also a nice light bite. I don't really remember much detail about them past that.
The negitoro roll actually wasn't my first roll choice, but I am glad we ordered it. Simple yet delicious.. I dont always like toro, but it tends to be a quality issue more than anything else. This toro just melted in your mouth.
The sticky pork ribs were cooked wonderfully, tender and juicy. The sticky glaze was thick, but a bit sweet for my liking. For some reason though, it just didn't wow me like I remember.
The black miso cod wasn't all that notable sadly.
I started with a lovely albarino and had their pear cocktail. The wine had good minerality which I enjoy. The cocktail didn't seem that well balanced, but maybe was just a bit more bitter than I expected.
The last time I went here they had a spectacular Tomahawk on the menu. In talking with the waiter, it seems it didn't come back post-Covid due to a supply issue, which I can always respect. When restaurants choose to take something off the menu because they can't source the quality they want to represent their restaurant, as sad as it might be, it's the right choice every time.
Our waiter was friendly and chatty. The busser cleared our dishes promptly, but did take my friends plate without replacing it.
Wish I took more pics. All in all the meal was good, but nothing to write home about like I remember it being. Dishes were good but nothing amazed me, service was fine, ambiance lacked where we were seated. For celebrating a 50th birthday, nothing was said, served, or mentioned. I wanted to love it more, but for $147 for my half of the meal, I dont think I would do it again. There are plenty of great restaurant option in Vegas. Maybe one day I'll check it out again, but likely...
