We were there yesterday (28-Jun). Not sure whether it was weekday evening or the sun is setting on this joint, the restaurant was almost empty and only 2-3 tables were occupied. anyway, we were a party of 5, got the table, and settled ourselves. Gianna was our server and she did a good job.
Usual- Nachos bucket came with 5 bowls of salsa.

Drinks: Mangonada Margarita: No doubt, the best cocktail on their menu. Sweet mango mixed with chili powder (Spicy Tajin), tango taste, and frozen it is. Perfect.!! Mango Margarita: Margarita with Mango- it was good Mojito Clasico Cherry Lime Rum Rita: Rum with lime and cherries Pineapple Rum Punch
All drinks were amazing and we don't have any complaints in that department.
Appetizers: Border Sampler: Chicken quesadillas, Nachos, Flautas, and Fajita chicken (we asked to replace steak with chicken and they obliged) Guacamole Live!: Gianna came up with all the ingredients and made live Guac. it wasn't mixed properly as Guac came with Appetizer and this live Guac - the taste was totally different
Entrees: VEG Burrito: Can't comment as we had one veg person and seems he wasn't much interested in this
Chicken Fajitas: Fajita is my fav dish in Mexican cuisine and never ever have I got a less quantity like this (in the picture). Fewer Veggies, and less chicken (chicken taste was good though) but they just cut breast pieces and served them simply.
Fish Tacos 3 Pc: this was the worst item we got. The oil in which fish was fried, was very bitter in taste. Mexican Grilled Chicken: it was good.
all the items come with side dishes like rice-beans-guac-tortillas.
fajita and tacos: disappointed us. I guess the only item we liked was Mexican grilled chicken.
overall Drinks- Good Appetizer- Good Entree: not good

Read moreMy wife and I often visit On the border in Paramus after work for few drinks and dinner. Every time we come here, we always have great time. Food is always fantastic, staffs are always welcoming and attentive, however tonight's experience was nothing but a disaster. We were asked if we wanted to be seated in a patio. Since we had a great weather we decided to dine in a patio. Even after 15-20 min we were seated, No one came to our table,so I had to get up and walked to the host station to find out if we were forgotten. Server name Daniel finally came to the table, took our orders. Eventually our meals and drinks made to our table(by his manager) and we never saw anyone again. When his manager( I think it was his manager who was wearing stripped white shirt) came to our table to bring our entree, he asked us if we needed anything else and I asked him to get me another drink which it was never made to our table. (but he added on a bill and I asked them to take it off). When we finished with our meal, my wife had to again walked back to the server's station to ask for a check. Overall I still love this restaurant from my past experience but needed to mention our tonight's experience somewhere as there were nobody at the restaurant who were interested about our tonight's visit. I was a hotel manager in the past for many years and I never write any negative comments like this because I understand how critical this can be for a service business and I usually don't complaint, however I strongly feel Daniel and his partial team members who I interacted with don't deserve to belong in a service industry. Read moreThis is my second time there but first time eating inside and I would never go back! the service was horrible the server took his sweet time coming to my table but I watched him go to other tables and greet them, then when he came to my table after 15 minutes he still had menus in his hand from the previous table. He didnt greet us n just went straight into what we wanted to drink i asked for 1 water that i never got THE ENTIRE time i waited. When he came to take our order for food i didnt expect to be there for almost 45mins just for ONE rice bowl. Ive worked in the food scene for over 5 years so I know when a server doesn't want a table based off of the "table" bc of tips and they dont think they're going to get a good one bc of my skin color especially when hes spanish.. N i KNOW bc while i waited for 1 meal i watched him seat his OWN section even though the hostess was doing her job n getting ready to seat them elsewhere.. He was personable n moving fast with the others in the section but only came to the table to take the order n NEVER never came back afterwards.
