THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE BREAKFAST PLACE!!! The Egg and I??? Nope. The Delectable Egg??? Nope. First Watch??? Negative. Doug's Day Diner has everything I want! 1) Hearty rural/country breakfast fare? CHECK. 2) Large Portions? CHECK. 3) Spirited and Friendly Staff? CHECK. 4) Reasonable prices? CHECK. 5) Smiling faces amongst the customer crowd? CHECK. We waited almost 30 minutes just to get a seat at 10:30am on a Saturday. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. What made it worth it? See above. I will wait for a seat for a place that meets all of the above criteria - especially the good prices. But DON'T raise those prices Doug's, or that will tip the scales in the wrong direction!!! I had the "Cowboy" and it was GREAT! Although the "Hillbilly" looked amazing as well! Cinnamon Roles are just as good as Cinnabon's! Love the rural/country/Colorado/Broncos decor (bathrooms includes). I grew up in this state and this place SCREAMS COLORADO more than any other place I can think of. It makes me think of the Colorado of my youth...... not the busy, packed, corporate, leftist Colorado of today. Had a VERY friendly waitress with a sunny disposition, southern drawl, and functional, succinct service (didn't hover... I hate that)!!! HOPE THAT TATTOO YOU'RE GETTING LATER TODAY IS JUST WHAT YOU WANT!!! There is waaaaaaaaaay too many menu items for me to not return religiously..... at least 10-15 times (at minimum)!!! I suggested to my Wife that we eat Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner here! Movie theater is close! We may have to do brunch here at Doug's and then a matinee across the street next time!!! YOU'VE GOT A GREAT PLACE DOUG'S DAY DINER!!!! DON'T SCREW IT UP!!!!

Disappointed. Put on waitlist for 30- 40 min wait. The wait turned into over an hour while they figured out how to bus tables. Too busy for only one host/bus boy. We were a party of 7, granted there would be a wait on a holiday. Yet when people linger after eating, it is just rude when others are waiting. A party of 9 was suddenly ahead of us we were told, but don't believe they actually existed as they never were seated. So we still waited a little less patiently. One waitress argued with host/bus boy about him wanting to give us the table. When we were finally seated at another table they put together towards the back, it was now 1 hour 15 min later. We were not offered a kids menu, yet did receive a kids sized drink in a kid cup. Better places seat faster, and wait staff remember who ordered what and didn't pass it down the table to the correct person. Food was a good sized portion, and wasn't bad, but service for brunch was really too slow. This was even after the place calmed down from customers. Maybe wait staff could help the poor host who was also bussing the tables and who was trying his best, as the wait staff were standing around the bar talking. When we left there were still so many tables, inside and out, with dirty dishes. Outside area is ok, but not much room as it is out on the curb with car and foot traffic. Not much parking unless you park where you shouldn't. 2 1/2 hours later ... Overall pretty sure we won't eat here again. Being gracious with the star ratings for the overworked host/bus boy.

The employees we dealt with were fantastic, and we were able to be seated immediately on a Sunday morning which is a plus. The portions are... huge. The bacon is pretty good. I would definitely get the bacon again. 🥓 I had a biscuit and gravy dish called the Lil'Billy. It is the "smaller" version of another one called the Hillbilly. Two eggs, hash browns, a *large* biscuit with gravy and two strips of thick bacon. The eggs and hash browns were fine, bacon was particularly good. But... the biscuit and gravy were not. The biscuit was large, but dry and tasteless. As if the only ingredients were flour and water. The gravy might as well have just been flour and water as well. No real flavor to those items whatsoever and that's really the center of this particular breakfast dish. Even though I only got through part of the biscuit I left feeling stuffed. My sister had eggs Benedict, which is one of her favorite things to get for breakfast. She was not impressed, and doesn't think she'd go back. I think I would like to give it another try, but definitely not for biscuits and gravy. I'd probably try an omlette next time, or their giant breakfast burrito that looks like it probably weighs as much as a newborn child.

They must have had a bad day, however with the staff per table Inobserved, I would not have expected these simple to solve problems. The good, the wait was reasonable and less than promised, seating to service was quick, the quality and quantity of food was outstanding. From their it was disappointing. Ask for water no ice and got a 1/2 cup of ice. Food was delivered fairly quickly but the table was never set with silverware and while the runner was getting the silverware she stopped to chat up some patrons at the bar and we waited. When it came time to leave our server was AWOL and we finally had to get up and request our check from the hostess. Then their payment app would not work (Full Disclosure it could have been my Apple Pay but I doubt it) and I had to chase the server down again as she was not on the floor. Why our server was filling the silver ware trays from the dishwasher and setups were not at our table when sat down is a mystery. While I love the food and I know staffing is an issue, it will be by awhile before returning so they can get their act together. I give my visit a C+/B- (grades more suitable for a Dennys or IHOP) but only because the food was so very good, kudos to the back of the house! The front needs to get their...
