We had a disappointing experience here. It was happy hour, so there were 3 different ways/combos you could purchase wings. We ordered 30 wings, onion rings, a couple large beers, and some wine. The waitress seemed to want us to order several individual wing baskets, which was more, so we replied wouldn't it be cheaper to order a bunch of wings at one set price, because that's what the menu said (which I took a photo of). I sensed the waitress was huffy, and even asked my husband if I had said something wrong or demeaning toward her so I could apologize. About 15 minute or so later, the manager (George) came out, obviously irate. He said he gave us an $8 "discount" but not to expect it again! Seriously, he was irate about $8 on an $80 tab (peanuts to anyone who dines out regularly). He repeated this, and I wasn't sure what to say. We dine out all the time...we were stunned! The food came and it was AMAZING. For what seemed like a very long time after we ate (the place was not busy), the waitress came back, but George had indeed NOT honored the menu price for the wings, so she wouldn't even hand us the bill. She left and came back again, and sure enough, the wings had been entered at the higher amount, and then a "discount" was added. I was sad to have been treated so disrespectfully by management. Dignity and respect go a long way in the service industry. We loved the food but cannot return due to the attitude...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWere in town seeing family that lived in the area. They recommended Hilltop Tap House as they go there a lot. Everyone in the group was in their 50s & up except our son that was almost 23. They insisted that the manager would have to decide if they could serve him because he had a vertical license. Wth??He was born in 2000 so basic math would tell him that he is old enough, they rudely refused to serve him just because his license is vertical. No one that has a fake ID would make it vertical so it was obviously real. They also wouldn't try to sneak in with a bunch of old people! You are not required to immediately switch your license when you turn 21 in our state. It expires in 2024 & will be changed then. No need to spend an extra day at DMV for no reason.
If you are going to run a bar & serve people from other states learn the laws. First time in any state he has been refused for having a vertical license. Claimed they could lose their liquor license if they served him (lie). Go to JD's Bait Shop instead. We went there the night before & this night after this incident. No issues there, service & food were fast & amazing both nights. I'm sure they appreciated the $400 we spent there that night that we didn't waste at the Hilltop Tap House. We will never be back & neither will any of our family that used...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent last night on a whim to grab a cold one and some wings. We are by no means regulars at this point but we have been there a couple of times and the food and service have both been excellent. This is a local sports bar with lots of TV's and a great selection of draft as well as bottle beers to choose from. I'm a draft guy and it's good and cold and served in a CLEAN glass to boot!! I've seen some negative reviews regarding some sort of "discount" that the customer felt they deserved....it's a local sports bar people!! We should be supporting our local businesses, not trying to find a loophole in their menu to save a couple bucks!!! If you're out looking for a great local bar that makes you feel welcome, this is your spot! Our sever, Morgan, was busy buy yet attentive to our needs and we couldn't find a single thing to be negative about. I had the Spicy Honey Asian wings and my wife had chicken fingers and the pretzel app. Our food was excellent and hit the spot. We spoke to the group sitting next to us as they had ordered the fish and chips and they raved about how good it was. Highly recommend and we will be back to explore other...
