UPDATE: We got in touch with the management of the venue, they were exceptionally apologetic, and informed us that the personnel who caused us these issues were not direct employees of the venue, and that they take feedback, both positive and negative to heart. Some things that were overshadowed by my frustration when I wrote my review;
The bartenders and servers here are exceptional, very personable, and service was quick, the drinks and food were awesome, and the venue itself is very well decorated and well kept. The people who joined us at our table were very fun and made the night a lot better. Up until I had my scuffle with Doc (as I have since found out) we were having a fantastic time. It's great that the ownership cares about the customer experience and was shocked to hear about what happened and ensured that it won't happen again (not to mention that the owners killed it on stage).
Now my take when I was admittedly still heated and adrenaline filled, an hour after leaving the venue:
Security here is out of hand.
I went to see Powerman 5000 with my dad tonight, for those who don't know this is a pretty rowdy metal band, the crowd ALWAYS has lots of jumping, fist pumping, and some tame, small mosh pits. One of these pits broke out halfway through the set, and I went in there. I have never felt unsafe in one of this band's moshpits in the 6 times I've seen them before, always just being pushed, never grabbed, never struck, always below the collarbone.
Tonight one of their security guards, Dan, or Don, (heavyset, beard, glasses) shoved me out of the pit with his forearm BY THE THROAT. Keep in mind, I'm 5'7, 140 lbs, this dude is easily twice my size and he shouts "knock it off" (probably trying to make an example out of the smallest dude he could find, like a real man). I didn't know if pits were against house rules, but this is a drastic and dangerous overreaction.
I bite my tongue and return to my 6 top table for the rest of the show, on the way out my father starts getting argumentative with this security guard (which was not okay) so I jump in and try to make peace, I tell the employee "Hey, I'm sorry if I broke the rules but you got my throat and that was way too much" He flat out denies it "I got you here." (gestures to between his collarbones) I get that under stress mistakes happen, I respond "You may have went for that but you went high and you could've hurt me" He SHRUGS and says "gotta pay to play"
Cost of entry to a moshpit is not and NEVER has been a forearm to the throat by a venue employee. Will not be coming back as I do not feel safe here. I have been in DOZENS of moshpits for dozens of bands and never had a fellow audience member hit me in the throat, let alone an employee.
This is what you get for your VIP tickets here
Had he just owned that he made a mistake I would've shook his hand and been on my way, mistakes happen. But to double down on nearly injuring somebody half your size? Man up. If you don't want a pit? Don't book a metal band!
Bad bouncers. Cannot recommend. It's a shame, the bartenders, and the server for our table...
Read moreMy First Sad Hour, Ever! I visited Wild Goose Saloon Friday 7/30 at 4:45 and we stayed until 6:40. The result was the most boring Friday afternoon drinks I have ever had.
Going in I had some preconceived service concerns based on the actual, non-employee/friend reviews. In honesty, there was a good amount of staff where we sat outside and there was no notable service concerns. Not the best service…but not the worst. So why was it so bad?
First, we had to move tables once because of the giant 10” steel post blocking the view of the person sitting across from you.
Once we moved, issue number two surfaced…PRICES!!! Two issues here, there are none included on the one-page copy machine created drink menu. Bourbons, Rums, Tequilas and beers were all listed, but none had prices! No cocktails were listed either. I had to ask the server the price for Blanton’s ($20), Eagle Rare ($10) and the beers. This is issue #2, EXPENSIVE!!!! A draft 90 Shilling at 5:00pm on a Friday was $7! Happy Hour….none. Rip Off Hour, always! I see higher “normal” prices at 7:00 before a band plays…but at 4:45 with an empty patio?!?!
Okay, now I’m past the initial seating issue and have accepted I’m drinking stock items at resort prices on a Friday afternoon in Parker. Here is where things really went south for me. There was a band set to perform at 8:00pm and they looked fun and lively. Inside was starting to fill a bit for people waiting to see the band, which is fine. However, there was no music playing, no TV audio from them having ESPN on the entire time we were there. The only ambiance was the conversations of the limited number of other patrons. That can be fun, but there was only about 5-10% of the outside area filled. Essentially on a Friday afternoon there was only 7-8 tables outside when there are about 30 to be filled. There was an interesting gal breastfeeding on the fake grass, but that was all of the entertainment we had. By far the most boring Friday afternoon ever.
We did order food, which was not anything to really write about. Not good, didn’t get sick. Think Sysco frozen apps or mass-produced low-quality BBQ. One thing that was odd, they have smoked chicken wings but didn’t fry them after smoking. Good smoke flavor, chewy and stringy skin. Wings 101 – they are always fried before saucing and serving!
Anyway, rumor is the owners have another place in Parker that this essentially cloned. They do a great job of designing a venue, but a terrible job of running it. With proper management, food, prices, specials, item presentation (menus with prices) and entertainment…this place could be great. For now, think of a dive music venue off Colfax, but in Parker built in 2021. Hope it...
Read moreI live in Parker and have been here several times for food, and typically enjoy the experience, and the food. The smoked wings are delicious. Last night I went at around 5pm with my toddler. It was an hour before a free 'Pickin' on the Patio' concert. I was greeted by the host who asked me, "Are you here for food or music?" I replied, "Both," and was told to head outside, grab a table, and a server would be right with me. I led my son outside and saw a number of large tables with only 1 or 2 people sitting at them. I began to grab a couple seats at a table with 4 open seats and one man sitting there. He told me those seats were taken, as his friends were on their way. I then went to another table that had 2 open seats, but was told they were being saved as well. I walked back inside to speak to another gentleman at the front door what their seating policy was. He stated it was open seating and that I could grab anything available. I then dragged my son back outside and went to the large table with the firepit in the middle. There were two girls sitting there and about 8 open chairs. I grabbed one and told my son he could sit there. I was then snapped at by one of the girls, stating the empty seats had people sitting there. I asked where they were and she stated they were on their way. I felt so embarrassed at that point and that everyone had been watching me get rejected from seat after seat with my child in tow. He kept asking me why we couldn't sit and that he wanted to hear the music. I went to my car and called the manager on duty. I explained to him the situation and was told they really didn't have a policy against saving seats. I was ready to buy goods and spend money now, and they had dozens of empty seats, not ordering, paying, tipping, etc. It is SIMPLE - make your patio seats available on a first come, first served basis! I took my son to Tailgate to listen to free music on the patio and eat their delicious wings. I suppose this is why Mr. Trujillo is selling the Wild Goose. I hope the new owners create better policies and hire more...
