I am super disappointed in the Geek Squad at this location. My mom took her computer in because it wouldn't boot up. When she turned it on, all she got was a black screen. Since she had paid for Geek Squads 3 year warranty, she took it into them.
When she got there, they asked her if she wanted anything backed up. She said no. I understand this is her problem, but in my opinion, when a 60 year old woman says "my whole life and business are on this computer" when she drops it off, the "expert" working needs to educate her on why it might be necessary to have everything backed up.
She got a phone call several hours later and was told that her operating system needed to be reloaded. No one told her that meant she would lose everything on her computer. So she lost 3 years of business records, contacts, receipts, emails, etc.
While I understand the importance of backing up important records, and have explained this to my mom before, Geek Squad needs to ensure their customers fully understand what is being done to their computer and what those changes will do (i.e. what the repercussions might be).
Geek Squad, if you read this, PLEASE make people sign something that states they understand they will lose EVERYTHING on their computer that isn't backed up before you wipe out their hard drive.

Read moreOrdered a TV online with Best Buy. I paid for install and delivery at the same time and scheduled an appointment. Yet every day for a week I kept getting notifications to reschedule. I had to go into the store to get an appointment to actually be set.
On the day of delivery the technician shows me that the screen is cracked and said he saw box damage before he came but thought it’d be ok. I was told that a manager would call me with options.
Nope no call. I call Best Buy and every store goes to a National call center now. Spent 5 hours trying to figure out how to get a replacement but had to go back to the store. They couldn’t figure it out so they canceled my order and placed a new one. Then I get calls that my scheduled delivery will need to be rescheduled. I email the manager and call the National number only to be told 3 times everything is set.
Well it gets late on delivery day and I call to get an ETA… I’m told that my appointment needs to be rescheduled AGAIN! I ask for a store manager and district manager name so I know who to ask for when I go to the store. I’m told this is confidential information and won’t be shared.
