When I first moved to the Pasadena/Deer Park area I was looking for an authentic style Mexican restaurant. The type of restaurant that makes your grandma's style tortillas. You know!? That home cooked taco. This place gets pretty close to that. I personally prefer a super thin fllour tortilla. This tortilla is a little fluffier. Flavor is absolutely there. Overall, the food is pretty good for the area and in comparison to their neighbors, it's reasonably priced. The Piña Colada is a house made recipe and let me tell you! This drink is delicious! It's not too sweet, not too strong. The wait staff is always friendly and courteous. Now for dessert and coffee! Inside of this little gem lies a hidden coffee cafe with amazing lattes and cheesecakes! All homemade recipes. They have non-alcoholic and alcoholic lattes!! I personally haven't had an alcoholic latte yet, but they sound amazing. I personally liked the, Galletas de Coco Latte. I tried it for the first time yesterday! Sooo delicious! Not too sweet at all. Now for dessert! They have Pina Colada, Oreo, Pecan Praline, Original, Strawberry, Blue Raspberry cheesecake, just to name a few. We have tried the strawberry, blue raspberry, Pecan praline, and Coffee. I have not one complaint. The recipe is a little different than a typical cheesecake, but in the best way! You can get a whole pie, whole slice, or half a slice! You have to meet Miguel and his staff he will tell you all about it!! I love family owned and operated businesses. This is exactly that. Take a look at the pictures and visit...
Read moreToday was my first time here. The restaurant is really spacious it could easily accommodate a large party. I spoke to the owner and the salon can easily fit 40-50 people. I love lemonade I order it everywhere I go and it was great. They made it just right! The chips came with green and red salsa they were both delicious not spicy. We ordered chips and queso. These tortilla chips were SOFT. I have never had such soft tortilla chips they were perfect. My wife had the quesadillas she liked them. The rice wasn't mushy and the charro beans were not salty. I had the chicken and beef fajita with shrimp and quail. I could have finished it all but I had to save room for dessert. This was the highlight of the meal the tres leches cake! I dont eat sweets much and I'm not a big cake person. Lord this cake was amazing super moist not overwhelming sweet it had whipped cream and a cherry on top. I will definitely come back and bring my friends here as well. The tres leches is a must try, save room for it! You will...
Read moreTwo things that make this not a 5 star review: portioning and the fajitas.
We ordered queso flameado for an appetizer and it was delicious, I will say that, but $14 for a very small plate is not competitive with other restaurants that charge less and provide more.
Same thing with the fajitas, except the fajitas were absolutely horrible... They were over cooked, did not have a good sear on them and really it tasted like they had been out for awhile and just got served to us. I am SEVERELY disappointed with them. $40 for fajitas for two, expectations are high and those were some of the worst fajitas I've ever had.... Like ever. I would highly recommend not ordering the fajitas if you are coming here and to the owners of this restaurant, I highly recommend teaching your cooks to do better.
The margaritas were good, the service was excellent as well, so that's not something to worry about.
Get some cheesecake as well... The chocolate abuelita was really good.
Please fix your fajitas... It's very...
