Design & Atmosphere is 10, We don't usually come to this location Drove about 30 minutes to come here for dinner tonight. After seeing this location few months ago and remind of us of Born & raised Steakhouse in San Diego We really wanted to come here.
Food taste I would also day 9 to 10 from what we got to taste here.
Now the question is why the 2 stars,
It has to do mainly with the managers attitude about what went wrong. Things can go wrong we can not control that but it is about how the managers handle it, & specially Words that they use.
We went with Pork Chops & a burger for our order. After about 45 minutes our food finally showed up, My wife had been asking hasn't been taking too long, But honestly sitting in the roof top that did not bother me that much,
Cutting in the to the chops excited Wow tasted great, But it was lukewarm. One of the things I can not handle is my food not being Warm or hot, lukewarm is not acceptable for me. I want to be able to enjoy my meal. sadly the burger was the same. Hopefully that is acceptable.
We had a great waiter & once we let him know, he said we will get the manager.
After about 10 min he came & First comment I said, "is it cold?"
I was kind of shocked with his very casual way & not even being sorry about it. He realized I was not happy & said he would take care of it, took the plates. I did express we had waited for 45 min already, he said he will take care of it.
Our waiter came by right after & I did express to him I hope he is not going to just heat that up and bring it back.
He said he was not sure & he will check with him.
Now here is the big question to the owners of restaurants & chefs everywhere , If your food was cold do you want it to go back & warmed up or remade. To me the chops & burger will be dryer & any self respecting restaurant & an chef that knows what is doing will make a new one. But I am just some one that enjoys food not an owner or a chef.
Well wait some more time & I asked the waiter, what is he doing & he let me know he didnt know. Clearly no communication So I left the table & started to look for the manager to see what is happening. can you imagine this form the time we checked at the front to the now it is about 2 hours I am walking to look for the manager to see what is happening.
Took the elevator to first floor was not able to locate him.
Went to 2nd Floor & I see the elevator door open with the manager, With my Cut Chops from earlier. I was shocked. I said you didnt just warm this up to bring to me did you ( after so much time this is a joke where are we Denny's) I started to walk upstairs let him know I dont want it a reheated food.
his comment back was you said you waited for 40 min for your food so I wanted to be fast. There is only one way to do food correctly.
After coming upstairs I asked for the check from my waiter & said I am sorry just want to leave. He did let us know he will talk to the manager & take care of it
The tables around us That sat last 20 min. started to get their food while after so long we are still just waiting.
Still no check & waiting I want to just leave, The manager again comes & my favorite comment of the night, " I know I can not make you happy"
This should say it all about...
Read moreThis place probably works best as a bar more than a restaurant from my experience during a weekend lunch. It was a Sunday because I was too cheap to pay for parking any other day going into Pasadena. You’d have to pay on most streets or pay on the so-called public parking lot. The wait to sit was minimal, I wasn’t too thrilled sitting next to the stairs due to falling objects (dust and debris) and an uncomfortable view given the restrooms were upstairs and a fair amount of constant traffic. I understand wait staff wages are disproportionately high here so the service was ok for what its worth. The food felt flat on their faces. We order the taco combo, a burger, beef Stroganoff pasta, and a tiny steak combo. I think the Stroganoff was the only decent piece. The rest are forgettable. The taco got no flavor, the chicken I had was like straight up boiled chicken breast nugget-ish bits. Didn’t taste anything at all beyond dry chicken. The burger would have been beaten by an IN-n-OUT. Super rare that I ate a no drip burger. This was achieved here. I regret ordering it medium. Same story with the steak. Tiny piece, ordered medium but well done as it was executed. Maybe it sat somewhere too long as the food temperature was way ambient when they arrived on a cool day in Pasadena. The beef paste came in a claying pot so that it survived the temperature plunge. The “chip” that came with the burger was not good. Either I am clueless or are they supposed to be greasy on the bottom end, chewy in the middle, somewhat crisp on top where that’s all you see when they arrive in a cup. The “chips” were also inconsistent in their physical thickness that compounded the side to side and chip to chip results. I did say this should be a bar and serve exclusively so. Not to the staff’s fault, the tap water is distinctively tap water. A filter might have helped or it’s suggesting other thirst crunching options should be the way to go. Or perhaps everything could have tasted much better after a...
Read moreWORST MOTHER’S DAY BRUNCH EXPERIENCE.
We came to Granville hoping for a special, celebratory meal. It was Mother’s Day. We showed up early and waited patiently in line before they even opened. We were excited to be there. But everything that followed was frustrating, chaotic, and honestly sad.
The host told us there was no indoor seating left, just patio seating if we waited. Fine. But then we watched a guy get seated alone at a table for four while his group didn’t show up for two hours. Two full hours. They walked in as we were leaving.
While we waited, we saw empty tables open up, including one right next to us, and watched people who arrived later get seated before us. When we were finally taken to the patio, it was a tiny table in the direct sun. It was over 90 degrees and the umbrella did almost nothing. My mom immediately asked if we could move to the bar, which was totally empty, and the host agreed.
Then a better table near us opened up and I asked the bartender if we could move. He just shrugged and told me to go ask the host. I had already ordered, we were seated, and it was Mother’s Day. Why couldn’t he help?
While we were eating, families waiting for tables started hovering over us. My sister was shoulder to shoulder with someone’s dad. It was uncomfortable and poorly managed. There was space near the front, but they just let everyone crowd the middle.
We waited 30 minutes for food and when it finally came, it was just… fine. The brunch menu was small with barely any options and nothing stood out. As soon as my parents finished eating, the bartender came over to clear their plates. I still had food on mine and he asked if he could take mine too, even though I was clearly still eating. It felt rushed and thoughtless.
We left right after. It was supposed to be a special day and it ended up feeling like we were just in the way. No one seemed to care. The seating process was a mess, communication was terrible, and the service felt cold. We...
