Old Sasoon Bakery — Restaurant in Pasadena

Swung by on a Wednesday afternoon to pick up 2 beef lahmajunes for a snack. I overshot the bakery at first and doubled back to park in one of the plentiful spots in front. This is one of the sleepier sections of Pasadena.

The store is more of a pickup counter with outdoor seating. The inside is lined with display cases showing off both sweet and savory baked items. There's a refrigerated display case for different drinks. There are at least 4-5 tables along the front sidewalk.

There's a very local family feeling to the place. The owner was sitting and chatting with her friends and quickly got up to greet me when she saw me approaching. I wouldn't be surprised if the barber shop next door is also related to the bakery.

The lahmajunes were meaty with a moist chewy dough. They weren't dry around the edges which means they were fresh. I will be back to try the other items. Great to know I can get my fix without having to drive to Glendale and deal with...

I’ve grown up coming here and it’s always been the best bakery around. We used to leave school to come and get a manaeesh sandwich and we’ve never been disappointed in the many years me and my family have been coming here. I now live Texas and Old Sasoon is one of my first stops when I visit home to get Khatchapouri, lahmajoun and any of our baked goods. But today was the first time we got to experience Old Sasoon’s whole lamb and let me tell you, it’s the best lamb we’ve ever had…we are all so thankful!! We’ve grown up on lambs for Easter and Christmas and this lamb and Hashweh was absolutely incredible. The food here is lovely and the service is top notch. I stopped by on the way to work and ordered a khachapuri with soujouk and a spicy cheese roll to go. The patio was lovely, so I ended up starting my breakfast here before leaving and the purveyor came out with hot sauce and napkins after seeing me through the front windows. They are very attentive and informative when I asked questions. The bread is out of this world and the serving sizes are on the larger side.
