La Posada Taqueria & Restaurant — Restaurant in Passaic

It’s hard to understand how can a joint with such bad ratings, that consistently gets reviews about bad food and bad service, not to mentioned the imposed tipping rate and poor quality of the products they put on the plates… they don’t seem too monitor freshness or preparation! I was there with two of my friends, we ordered 1. Tacos Al pastor 1. Chilaquiles verdes con stake & 1. Alambres de stake… besides a guacamole for appetizer… The guacamole wasn’t the usual nice light green normal of a good guacamole, it was already a dark green a step before turning brown, we asked the waitress about it and she replied it was freshly made a day or two ago 🤪… The rest of the food was disastrous, all the meat was fully dehydrated and appeared everything but fresh, like it had been laying in their fridge for a day or two and had been reheated several times! We tasted everything in the attempt to give them the benefit of the doubt, and we were irremediably disappointed🤷🏽‍♂️… In the end they not only imposed the tip, but charged extra for the tortillas that are supposed to be included with the alambres and so on and so forth, they suck… they seem to had been a better place in the past, I’ve been to this location 2-3 times in a span of about 3 years, and can’t recall them being so reckless about their food/service, although I do recall the place always being nearly empty, that might explain the lack of freshness!… such a shame they seem to have some potential, but it takes some hard work and pride to create a good reputation… I would stay away, and advise others too to go elsewhere, due to this bad...

The place is really cute very colorful and true to the Mexican cuisine it serves. The apps we ordered, elotes, guacamole and mixed ceviche were delicious no complaints do be had. The margaritas were okay, definitely more ice than drink but that’s in most restaurants now a day, so no supiese there. We ordered some entrees and this is how it went: the fajitas were good, cooked well and full of flavor as well as the frijoles which were superb. The pulpo tacos were okay but nothing to really write home about. The birria tacos were anything but that: they were super dry, were not cooked/pan seared with the consomé, they used cheddar cheese?! Very weird. And the consomé had no mead at all and barely any onions, less some thin pieces. The only thing I enjoyed truly from the tampiqueña was the jalapeño which was nicely spicy. I wasn’t asked how I wanted my steak cooked. Instead it came out tough as rubber. The chicken filled tortillas looked nothing as they were advertised in the menu. Last but definitely not least, our waiter looked like he didn’t want to be there. I understand that he could’ve been tired but the service was lacking to the max. Multiple times we had to ask for water bottles and forks. The apps came without forks. The entrees without forks. The piece of cake for my birthday without forks (yeah this was my birthday dinner if you can believe it.) all in all I’m not going back to this place. I don't know if the people who reviewed this place are smoking crack but they are on something. This restaurant hands down is one of the BEST Mexican Restaurants I have ever been to/ordered from. I didn't even get a chance to get a good photo because we are so greedy and started eating right away. Since discovering them last week my wife and I have ordered from this place 4 times. We can't get enough of their amazing tacos or the torrta sandwiches. I went to bed last night with a Peruvian flag hanging above my bed when I woke up it was a Mexican flag. This food has me wanting to change nationalities. We got really drunk two nights ago and ordered 3 ordered of their Birria Tacos. My wife was so excited, it was the best sex we ever had. If we made a child last night they won't be Peruvian they will be Mexicano! 🇲🇽🌮 these tacos fixed my credit. These tacos made my father respect me.
