It took vocal prompting to prompt staff action, indicating a disorganized service approach. Despite positive feedback on the food's taste from a fellow patron, the reality fell short. The fries lacked flavor and texture, resembling frozen varieties, while the tilapia lacked seasoning and crispness in its breading. This is the type of place that food shows love. It’s down to earth, it’s local, it’s loud and can often be packed shoulder to shoulder. Their might be a mariachi band and you WILL smell like fried fish when you leave but that’s what makes it so special. The rundown is they throw an entire fish whole into a deep fryer, and serve it with an assortment of sides, I like the rice and salad. It’s fried but it’s not oily, it’s flavorful but it’s not greasy, it’s hearty but not expensive. This place has always been good. However, the past 2 times I went there, the Fish 🐟 tasted kind of "funny"! I'm not sure if it's the oil that's being used, OR if the fish are being tampered with B4 they get to the store (there have been reports abt Fish being "embalmed" 😱 to that they last longer). If it wasn't for that, they'd get a 4 or even a 5. The first time, they changed the fish out for me & it was fine(weeks/months ago)... This last time I went (just last week) and I could smell that weird smell on the fish before I even tasted it! I do think something might be going on though! They also need to answer the phone...
