DOWNTOWN GRILL — Restaurant in Paterson

Glad to see theres a dining area available again in the Center City Mall. That pizza shop up on the second floor was literally all they had to offer for a while. I stopped by the Downtown Grill (I like the name) today for lunch. They have a decent selection of menu items for breakfast lunch and dinner since they stay open fairly late. They have pastries and all else u would expect from a local eatery. The staff was quite friendly. I asked for a Cuban sandwich, which isnt a menu item and they made it for me with no problem. It was good too. The French fries are pretty unique. They fry them really hard and crunchy but they dont taste over cooked at all, flavorful too. I think it's a lady they have on the grill, shes good. I may start grabbing breakfast from here on my way to work in the mornings. I like to support my community eateries. I'm a foodie so I love good food. This spot looks like it will be good...

I came here because I saw it had a lot of positive reviews.

Sadly my experience was not positive. I ordered a downtown wrap; it was DRENCHED in oil, just absolutely disgusting. Not sure what oil was used or if it was even clean. The chicken was rubbery you can tell it’s pre made or pre cooked and not fresh. I wouldn’t have high expectations for this spot but I do expect my food to be edible…

Ended up throwing up the whole wrap the next morning. Sorry to be gross but that’s what happened. On a positive note however, I liked the sweet potato fries.

Had some paperwork to do in downtown and walking by the smells just got me I had to try a sandwich especially since I was in the company of my daughter. We ordered the Roma panini… it was so delicious perfect melt cheese and such a good pesto base , the chicken was so tender. Service was so friendly and inviting, the cashier made sure my coffee was just the way we wanted . Definitely the highlight...
