We visited Seagull after I saw a post on social media. The restaurant is set back from the main street and has a few parking spots available which is really nice since parking in Paterson on the weekend can be tough. The ambiance is nice with a clean Mediterranean vibe. The place itself isn't huge but large enough to accommodate plenty of guests. When you walk in you'll see their fresh seafood behind a glass case. They have several tv's playing underwater scenes and of course Arabic music videos.
Once you're seated they bring out fresh bread with a plate of olives and pickled veggies. The veggies were great, vinegary and slightly spicy which I really loved.
I went with my family, there were 5 of us total. We ordered the Mediterranean feast which came with a whole fish, head-on butterflied shrimp, fried shrimp and calamari, as well as a tiny grilled octopus tentacle. We added another whole fried fish for an additional $20 on top of the $84 dollars the platter cost. Three of us ate from that platter and we had some leftovers. One of my kids ordered the seafood linguine and liked it. My little one ordered the chicken fingers and fries but didn't like that everything came with paprika and parsley. All their dishes come with two choices of rice, salad, or fries.
All in all we had a great experience. The hostess was super sweet and elegantly dressed. I assumed she is one of the owners. But everyone was super friendly and accommodating.
The only part I didn't like was that the pricey platter we ordered only came with a very small piece of grilled octopus. I understand how expensive it is but when you're paying that price you expect a little more. They do sell a grill octopus appetizer for $20. Maybe I'll order that next time.
I'd highly recommend this place and it may sound crazy but I'll be going back for the pickled veggies and...

This was my second time visiting this seafood restaurant, as Paterson is known for its great Middle Eastern cuisine. I usually go to Hamido or Sabry’s in Queens, but this time, I wanted to take my husband to New Jersey for a fine seafood dinner. Unfortunately, the night was completely ruined due to the poor service.
A couple arrived just minutes after us, and the man at their table constantly demanded the waiter’s attention throughout the night. As a result, we were completely ignored. We had to ask three times just to get basic service, and our food, drinks, and sides were brought out separately at different times, rather than being served together. Meanwhile, the other table received constant attention—it felt like the waiter was their personal butler rather than serving all guests equally.
I even pointed out to the waiter that we were being neglected, but instead of improving the service, the man at the other table took notice and started complaining, making the situation even more uncomfortable. What was supposed to be a special fine dining experience turned into a frustrating and disappointing evening. No matter how good the food may be, service plays a huge role in the overall experience, and in this case, it completely fell short.
I will not...
Read moreMashallah Mashallah!!! I don’t know what to say this place was absolutely delicious!!!! My best friend who happens to be a manager at Apothecarium told me about it. Long story short my husband and I ended up going last night for his birthday and it was more than what we expected. The service was good, the food even better, they have a parking lot so that was a plus since it gets very busy in that area. The food was fresh it felt like you were eating at their home. For apps we got the butterfly shrimp, grilled octopus, baba ghanoush, arugula pomegranate salad all that was amazing! Then for our meals we ordered the seafood rice with fried shrimp again everything was delicious!!!!!!!!! I loved the atmosphere they played Sherine which is one of my favorites, the workers there were soooo nice and attentive. I’ve been to Egypt before and let me tell you it felt like we were back there. I really enjoyed myself last night that I came into work today telling my coworkers about it and now they’re going for lunch today after work.
