I went to Chubby's for my 19th year anniversary (I know I'm a romantic). What a great place. The food was amazing, everything tasted great. The atmosphere makes for a great place to sit down and enjoy the food company and night. Now I have to decide for next year between Hawaii or Chubby's - it will be a tough choice. Really the food is that good!
Well, now it is a year later. I chose Chubby's instead of Hawaii for my 20 year anniversary. The fact that my wife is still married to me proves this is a great restaurant. Great food and great employees! Here is to many more happy anniversaries with Chubbys...and my wife.
Well this year I took my wife to Disneyland for our anniversary. We had a great time, but do you know what she asked? She said, "Well that was fun, but when are we going to go to Chubbys?" I knew what I had to do for the sake of my future and my children's future. First chance after we got home I took her to Chubbys for an incredible meal and to keep the romance in our marriage. I got the Mango Habanero chicken sandwich. Wow that was amazing! I split some of the best scones ever with my wife. My only regret is splitting them. I wish I got two orders. Our cashier was so smiley and bubbly. She made our night. Chubbys in the real deal folks. Keep your marriage alive and take your wife there tonight!
Well here we are and another year has gone by. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary the way all great love stories should: with greasy fingers, shared scones, and the warm glow of the barrel lighting bouncing off her eyes like starlight, because nothing says eternal love like a burger you need two hands and a game plan to eat. From the moment we stepped in, it smelled like happiness. That sizzling aroma of grilled beef and toasted buns wrapped us up like a cozy blanket of deliciousness. The cashier winked when I said it was our anniversary—probably because she knew what we were about to experience. Or maybe she was just being polite. Either way, she helped make it a great night. I ordered the Mushroom Bacon Swiss, and I swear it should have been wearing a crown. Each layer whispered sweet nothings to my tastebuds. Juicy beef, grilled mushrooms that tasted like they’d been foraging in a buttery wonderland, and cheese that didn’t just melt, it embraced. I may have teared up a little. It was our anniversary, after all. Emotions were high. My wife, radiant as always, went for the classic favorite cheeseburger (which, as tradition dictates, I snuck bites of when she wasn’t looking). I swear I saw her fall in love all over again…with the burger. I was fine with it. Who could compete with lettuce, tomato and a burger that tastes like…well a Chubby’s burger, there is no comparison. The real moment of shared magic was the scones. Oh, the scones. Golden, fluffy, and clearly cooked with some kind of grandmotherly enchantment. We split the order(still a mistake, I should have ordered us an order each). We drizzled butter like it was liquid gold and laughed about the time we accidentally set off the smoke alarm trying to make dinner in year one. It was a great night. We reminisced. We argued briefly over who got the last bite (she won — as she always does). And for dessert? A milkshake with two straws, naturally. Classic. Creamy. Utterly cliché in the best possible way. It wasn’t fine dining. It was classic fun dining. Chubby’s, thank you for being the third wheel on our anniversary date. You were delicious company. For one night, it was just me, my wife, a burger bursting with mushrooms, and a shared basket of fried dough that somehow made a simple dinner feel like a celebration of everything good in life. We highly recommend Chubby’s. Bring someone you love. Or at least someone who won't steal...

Read moreI live in Northern Utah, but I travel through Payson five days a week. I have seen signs all along the freeway for Chubby's, and I thought I'd give them a try. I was not disappointed at all, and this is why:
The Ambiance: This is a locally owned and operated establishment, but not quirky the way a lot of places can be. The first thing I noticed was the cleanliness. It was dinner time and pretty busy, but tables were cleared and cleaned quickly and efficiently. The music was pleasant and playing at an appropriate volume. The bathroom was extremely clean and well-supplied as well. In all, it felt like a very welcoming environ that I would take my family to.
The Service: Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted by a cheerful employee, who I unfortunately don't remember her name. She helped me navigate the rather large menu and settle on a couple of items. When the food was prepared (rather quickly might I add) it was delivered directly to my table post haste.
The Food: I ordered the Chubby Cheesesteak. I love a good cheesesteak, and so my expectations are rather high in this regard. The food was delivered immediately after it was cooked and was piping hot. It looked amazing! The cheese was so melty and the whole thing had me salivating! When I picked up the sandwich to take a bite (aside from a couple of burned fingers) I noticed the bread. The bread was so fresh and so soft, yet so very durable for this type of sandwich. It was so pleasant to not have to chew my way through the bread just to get to the inside of this sandwich. I only gave four stars for the food just because I felt it could've used a bit more seasoning on the steak, but other than that, it was excellent. I also ordered the Peach Cobbler which, while not house-made as I had hoped, was hot and delicious tasting. The only thing missing was a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My bad on that one as they have it available to get a la modé.
Overall this experience was great, and I would happily recommend this place. I give credit where it is due, and Alan, great job to your...
