I'm giving 5 stars because I've been here before and I know this isn't the norm and the food is amazing but today we called 2 hrs ahead to let them know we had a group of 10. We arrive and get placed in the back room next to another large table who looked like they just had their order taken. Someone came and took our drink order pretty quickly, came back twice more for refills, and in that time the table to next to us received their food and finished eating and left before the same waitress who had serviced their table 3x came to take our order. We had been sat for 35 minutes before she came to take our order although she had been in and out of the room to service the table next to us. My husband had gone to the front twice to get us a waitress and when she did finally come to take our order she couldn't have looked anymore displeased and not just once, she approached our table for just a second before rolling her eyes and walking out towards the front just to turn right back around and come back to service us, still looking as miserable as the first time she came up to us. She took our order and the came out 25-30 minutes later. She gave us the bill and it was our friend who took it to pay, but had we not been here before we'd still be sitting there waiting for her to come back because she dropped off the bill and didn't let us know we needed to pay at the front. Her customer service was...
Read moreMost people know Pinon Café as a breakfast favorite, but their lunch deserves just as much attention. Walking in at midday, the pace feels a little more relaxed, with the morning rush behind and the café settling into an easy rhythm. The space has that same small-town charm, filled with familiar faces and the friendly hum of conversation.
The lunch menu is simple in the best way. Sandwiches come stacked with fresh ingredients and served alongside crispy fries or a cup of soup that tastes like it was made in a home kitchen. The burgers are juicy and filling, and the daily specials give regulars something new to look forward to. Everything comes out hot, hearty, and without unnecessary fuss, the kind of food that satisfies without overcomplicating things.
The staff keep the energy light, checking in with the right mix of attentiveness and ease. You never feel rushed, just cared for. Lunch at Pinon Café carries the same spirit as their breakfasts: honest food, kind people, and a place that feels like home no matter how many times you’ve been there.

Read moreWas very much looking forward to enjoying breakfast this morning in Payson. I'm not from the area and unfortunately did not get a very nice welcome. Once we were seated and waited for over 25 minutes for someone to take our order (long enough for me to witness other people be seated after us, get waited on, and served their food) Long enough for me to have to awkwardly mention to someone that we were ready to order. In doing so I was scolded at from across the restaurant with the shouted words: "you're just going to have to wait!"
10 minutes later the waitress came over to take our order, we were greeted with unpleasantness and attitude by the same woman who scolded me, as if it was a great inconvenience for her to take our order even after waiting for 40+ minutes by now.
I am a very reasonable and patient person, have worked many years in the food industry, but this experience was so disappointing; a busy morning does not warrant customers to be...
