So. I went to this restaurant on a Wednesday at the recommendation of a local patron who also accompanied me and assured me from his past experiences that this was a fantastic food experience/establishment. To start of I will say the owner who greeted us was very nice and accommodating as well as most of the staff. However the food left something to be heavily desired. I started with the tomato caprese salad. The tomato was not yet ripe at all to be served also the amount of oil that was on this plate pretty much was drowning the mozzarella and tomato. I ordered the mushroom ravioli for my mains ,and this was where things completely ruined the whole dinner. The whole dish was sweet. I have had mushroom ravioli at other establishments ,and one thing I can conclude is that nothing about that dish should be that sweet. I mean form the sauce to the balsamic to the mushroom. The whole dish was sweet and not savory at all. It blew my mind that pasta could taste that sweet. I couldn't stand to eat anymore then a few bites, and my companion who is a regular patron of this establishment had the rest of pasta ,and even he concluded this was the worst dish that he has had from here. I tired giving them one more chance with the dessert ,and had "the best north of Miami" key lime pie. The pie was actually fairly decent. The filling could have been more firm and the pie crust as well, however that can be overlooked understandably as I am presuming the desserts are not made on a daily basis. Here is where this bad dinner went to go on and become a horrible night and following day. Not even 5 minutes after leaving the restaurant I began sweating profusely ,and requested for the car to be pulled over. I immediately threw up for the next 5 minutes. I dropped of my friend back to his place and went on to my hour drive back home. As soon as I got back home I threw up once again in my driveway. That night my stomach and bowels were so messed up I managed only 3 hours of sleep. Will not be...
Read moreI saw great reviews on this place and decided to take my wife on a date here. First, the service was fine. The ambience inside is a little, uh, unimpressive. They have a decent outdoor section but we chose to eat inside. Now the bad. We ordered the lobster cake app and it was basically a scoop of something with a few lumps of what I hope was lobster over some kind of sauce. It looked like something pulled from a 1970s cookbook. Not impressed. My wife ordered the flounder. The flavor of the sauce was not great. There were 2 way overcooked and rubbery shrimp in there as well. I ordered the steak au poive and it was swimming in whole peppercorns and some kind of pinkish sauce. Both entrees were served with basically raw green beans, some with stems still attached with no seasoning except, you guessed it, more pepper. The mashed potatoes were homemade but my wife can make better after 6 beers. Back to the steak. If I make a steak at home I season it and grill it. Done. If you need to drown it in peppercorns and sauce, you shouldn't cook steaks. Overall this place is very expensive for what you get, and the taste of almost everything was just blah. I took half my steak home and fed my dogs, minus the peppercorns. I had a side of scallops that were far and away the best tasting thing we had. You couldn't pay me to come back here. I went to culinary arts school in the early 90s and this style of cooking is very outdated. I wish I could open a restaurant and give people food they would love because this is...
Read moreI loved the food… my dish was delish and so was the wine. BUT I’m giving them only three stars because the owner of the restaurant was VERY visible throughout our meal and not in a good way. He was hovering over the wait staff, watching their every move and correcting them in front of customers, and it was very uncomfortable and awkward. Instead of stopping at each table and speaking to us — which is often the practice in fine restaurants — he chose to orchestrate, correct and redirect staff. At one point, we were having a short pleasant conversation with our waitress which we initiated, and he walked over, interrupted us and rudely told her to go take care of another table.. If our convo had been going on a long time I would get it, but we had just barely started. NOT a good look. I felt so sorry for the staff there, I wouldn’t work for someone like that who has to keep you under their thumb. If you hire professionals, they know their job and how to do it and don’t need management watching their every move. So net/net: there are lots of restaurants around, I prob won’t go back because it just was not a...
