Cool outside seating and clean vibes inside. Great customer service someone referred us here to try the empanadas, but we picked something different. Restrooms clean and accommodating, maybe the restroom floor needs an upgrade, but I could have admitted that statement as it is negligible really.
The DanDan Noodles were delicious. Not overly sauced, but just enough to stick to the noodles and the flavor was perfect. We put the pork belly on the side and it is delicious and crispy. At $18, I wanted more. It legit could be a main dish item in a bigger bowl with more noodles and maybe another vegetable. The noodles and meat were high-quality so I understand charging up for quality.
The brussels were a great amount and perfectly seasoned and very presentable. The sauce on it was very light and I couldn’t tell what kind of sauce it was from the taste, but I had no issue.
The collards were perfect looking but on the taste, they were a bit vinegary sweet. More so vinegar like pepper sauce vinegar. It was so pungent that I coughed a few times lol I believe this is an easy fix so I didn’t want to drop them to a four-star, just for this.
The cornbread was the perfect look and taste. One of the best cornbreads ‘I’ve tasted. And my folks make cornbread religiously so this is a high praise. The bacon butter with it was extremely unique and flavorful. Worth taking home and putting on something else lol
The grouper tacos were a great price and portion at $15 with fries (delicious fries) I believe this is a great deal. I was expecting the grouper to be fried, but it was baked or seared. because of its softness it had the consistency of an egg sandwich. Surely it tasted like fresh grouper and juicy, and all I needed was some lime and maybe coleslaw to add to the crunch, unless they sear the fish or shell crispy to give it some crunch. It was soft/delicate which may not be A problem at all.
The smoke show beverage was great.
The veggie bowl was probably the least favorite in that it only had brussels sprouts and green beans over rice. The strong teriyaki sauce was a bit too pungent for my wife, but I like the flavor just maybe a little less sauce and because it was just Brussels, string beans and rice, it didn’t push loaded vegetables dish to me. It needed more rice and 3-4 different vegetables at least. The taste is fine just needed more vegetables and rice and put the sauce on the side. If this dish is all I had, I’d definitely have to order more food.
I forgot to order dessert and I am upset because I see great reviews. I’ll have to go back to try that dessert and other menu items that I saw that I liked. Sure this place has a lot of pork options but you can move the pork out. Even with a small menu it didn’t feel small. I’d recommend this place and come back, our price got up because we did order a few items but on date night anniversary this wasn’t too bad and I believe they deserve the five star. Their market price steak does get up close to $50, but there are affordable items on the menu and if the steak is big and quality with good sides, that’s a common restaurant price. The Smashburger and empanadas did look great and I know that steak is good. Check...
Read moreGreat vibes, good food, nice environment. Would recommend! Small menu, but quality items. Good waitstaff. Nice and strong cocktails. Unique menu for the area.
I went with a party of six walk-in and we were seated quickly for lunch. 3 of us ordered alcoholic beverages (a beer and 2 rum and coke) and the rest soda in glass bottles. The rum and coke was strong but I enjoyed it. Tables were clean and sturdy and the over look of the gastro pub was a quant feel. Tables were spread for comfort. About 4 tables were full, not crowded.
We ordered the pork belly app, some pieces were perfect cooked, but a lot of the edges and actual pork were overcooked. Flavor was good on it. We all had different entrees: cheesesteak with chips (which was mine), fish tacos, salmon blt, grilled chicken sandwich, burger, chicken tenders, and shrimp and grits. I tried most of them though, and my favorite was the shrimp and grits. I don’t like grits, but I LOVED these grits. Shrimp was fresh and cooked well. Cheesesteak was good, chips were a great side and nicely seasoned. Salmon blt was cooked perfectly, and both chicken dishes were good. Burger was not cooked as it was ordered. It was ordered medium rare and came out medium well. Still juicy but not to temp as ordered. The shrimp and grits came out cold, however, they prepared a new hot dish. The bacon on both blt and burger were almost inedible due to overcooking. Lastly, the fish tacos were a disappointment. Fish was also very overcooked and was barely eaten overall. Flavor was good, but not cooked well. It was surprising that so much was overcooked considering there weren’t many customers. Also, we had a kid with us and he had the tenders, which came out last by like 10 minutes of everyone else’s dishes. We told the staff about most of the issues and they were very nice about it and offered other items, but we were all just done...until she mentioned the creme brûlée as a desert. Pretty good for the states, but it was accompanied by FRESHLY whipped cream (which I knew as soon as I tasted it...I’m a baker). It was a nice ending to our visit.
Over all, it was a great spot, very quant. I would definitely return and recommend this spot. It’s fresh, which is most important to me. The member that came and had the fish would not like to return. 5 out of 6 of us would return. It has a very unique menu that stands out from the rest, even in the surrounding towns. Definitely the best desert I have had in Newnan/PTC area. Good service,...
Read moreI can’t write enough wonderful comments about my dining experience at the Curious Pig in Peachtree City! I was looking for a nice interesting place for solo dining that was not a chain and I stumbled upon this local place that has quite a following.
From the minute I walked into the restaurant on a Tuesday evening, every employee could not have been more welcoming. I decided to try it because of their happy hour specials, and no surprise, when I arrived, the bar was full. I started to sit at a table, but lucky for me quickly there was a place available and I moved to the bar.
All wines by the glass were $4 so I started with a nice crisp Sauvignon Blanc followed by an Argentinian Malbec. I wish the wine list was a little larger, but the choices were ok and the pours looked to be about 6 generous ounces. The bartender Jacob was fantastic, and he definitely has a passion for cocktails evidenced by their very interesting list.
All the appetizers were 25 pct off. I started with brussels sprouts, followed by lobster empanadas and finally a panzanella salad. The portions were huge so a to go box was in order.
The Brussels were a generous portion and the flavor combination of the bacon, miso crema and gremolata were spot on. The temperature could have been a little warmer, but didn’t really detract from the dish.
The Lobster Empanadas were fried to perfection without being the least bit greasy. They were filled full of generous chunks of lobster and the chimo mayo sauce served on the side was good, but didn’t really add much.
Finally, I relied on bartender Jacob’s recommendation for the Panzanella salad, which is not something I would normally order, and it was off the hook. The garlic chili vinaigarette tossed with cubes of cornbread and tomatoes, basil and parmesan, was the perfect marriage of sweet and spicy.
By the time I left, the place was filling up and I had met two nice young local women who filled me in on the restaurant and the area in general.
Good news is they told me about another new place that just opened, The Curious Cantina, which is about 10 minutes away and another place in Senoia, The Curious Kitchen. Looking forward to checking them out and...
