Let me just say that H&W is one of the most beautiful restaurants I have dined in across any state.
The service was immaculate and very attentive, from the valet, to the host, and table service. You'll deserve every bit of the tip I left. Service is everything to me.
Now the uncomfortable, we didn't bring these issues to the servers attention because its highly uncomfortable and sometimes ruins the evening. This was our first time going out alone since our last child was born who is now 15 months.
Me and my wife came for the first time on 10/26/2024 at 5:45pm. Our bill plus tip was about $280.00. At this price point, certain things should not occur and I have listed them below:
Wedge Salad - You cannot have wilted lettuce throughout your wedge. I didn't bother to take a photo, hopefully it was a one off (it was several pcs of lettuce with brown throughout salad). We get excited about trying wedges when available, we were highly disappointed.
Lobster Bordeaux special appetizer: It was amazing, I was originally going to get the normal lobster tail which is $24. But our wonderful waiter informed me of the lobster special appetizer (which is: Fried lobster tail maybe 3-4 oz. lemon sauce with very small portion of crab meat). The issue was the price. When the receipt came it was $49 dollars, pic is below. The appetizer was more than my entree. I believe that the price point was unreasonable. But the dish was great, I never expected the dish to be $49. - I will take that on the chin, I never would have thought the appetizer would be more than any entree unless its like a large variety of the appetizers.
THE BIGGEST AND MOST HURTFUL moment was the Delmonico Ribeye Steak, 16 oz, $75.00. This was my wife's entree. When it arrived, it didn't look like a ribeye. It looked like a New York Strip, since not much fat was on steak. She ordered the steak Medium as we always do. The seasoning was good, but the steak itself was very tough and not tender at all. When we were seated they brought over a display of Waygu Steaks showing great marbling, we didn't choose any of those. But, In my mind I'm thinking if they have a presentation such as that even the normal steaks would be awesome.
I hate going to restaurants coined as superior steakhouses and your steak is not a standout. I don't know if you are removing the fat which adds to the flavor, quality of meat, or cooking technique. You have to step your steaks up to the level of beauty of your restaurant. SERIOUSLY.
I also noticed the table next to me steak arrived and I could tell their steak was not tender as well. If its a struggle to cut and I cannot slice my smaller piece from the cut with a fork. Its a problem.
Shrimp Scampi: You could have a great shrimp scampi with a minor change. Please remove the shrimp from the shell. You chose the beauty of a dish over the accessibility and ease of your customer. I would get the dish again, but I would substitute the shrimp for scallops or ask if I can have regular shrimp instead of the split whole shrimp which has the heads attached.
Level of Service: When they discovered our appetizer didn't come or was late, they provided my wife with her choice of a free desert without ask. That was wonderful.
As I said, the service and beauty of the restaurant was hands down great.
The quality of the steak really disappointed us and brought our experience down.
The only reason I am giving a 2 star is because, in the end, its 2 elements that make a restaurant. The service and the food, you have the service but the quality of what you brand your restaurants as was not on the same level.
If you are a steakhouse, you should have flavorful tender steaks at...
Read moreI cannot believe How H&W steakhouse had my review flagged and removed… again my name is Rocky and here is my experience at H&W steakhouse.me and my wife had dinner at H&W steakhouse Valentine’s Day 2024 we just got done having dinner when another couple sitting next to us just got seated and we started to have a conversation about the restaurant and we were all enjoying the atmosphere they asked how was our dinner? Me and my wife replied it was good we both lived in the area and we said it was very convenient to have a nice steakhouse in our area and then Rosie, the manager rudely interrupted and told me to shut up and don’t talk to my customers And all of us were very shocked And then she went on by saying you shouldn’t badmouth my restaurant which the couple at the other table told her that we were not bad mounting the restaurant we were actually praising the restaurant because it had a nice atmosphere and I explained to her that she must have misunderstood what I said, then she rolled her eyes at me and then turned around and right before she turned, she other What? something under her breath like a racial slur Which made me sick to my stomach and then she proceeded to walk away. I stood up from my table and I asked what is your problem And she pretended Not to hear me so Again, and then the other manager came Michael I believe was his name and told me to calm down And relax, and then he asked what happened, so I explained to him and the table Next to us also explained exactly what happened so Michael went to Rosie and told her to stay in the back And not go around my table he came back apologize for her actions I told him I did not want his apology. I wanted Rosie’s apology he cannot get her to apologize so he offered me a free dessert. I said I do not need his dessert. I asked for my check paid $700+ And explain to my wife, that we will never come back to this restaurant ever again story does not end here some family members of mines Who was not present at the restaurant that particular night went in with reservations and then a gentleman by the name of Berto denied them denied them access into the restaurant because their last name on the reservation matched my last name, so he refused to serve them, which made me very upset and then I called to try to figure out why was my family members who were not present at the restaurant that particular Night was denied service Berto explain To me you people always causes a problem to try and get a free meal and I explained to him what happened and then he called me a liar and that never happened. so the phone call was getting nowhere so I sent an email to a person who I thought was the supervisor of Berto And I clearly explain what happened again and then the next day, Berto called me after I left a Google review and he was bullying me about it So I asked him again do you not believe that there’s two sides of every story you only heard her side and decided to call A liar when I happen to mention some of the Google reviews I mentioned a particular one and he reply what a semi racist remark Berto you could flag this one you could report this one……. my voice will be heard and whomever is reading this you want to look up the racial profiling for yourself just go all the way down on the Google reviews are yelp reviews and you will see what I’m talking about…. for every negative review they have their put fake reviews to hide yours my advice stay away from this restaurant…… you can see my excitement🙄 in their restaurant and this was before the incident. so besides the fact of the outrageous management service is...
Read moreThis was our first time at this restaurant. The food was pretty good. My fillet mignon was cooked a little more than requested but it was still very tender and juicy. The service was much less than I expected. Am I wrong for expecting a crumber? Other than no crumber, service was very slow and my bisque never arrived. I really wanted to try the bisque, I even called before coming to make sure I'd be able to order it. She didn't repeat my order back to me and I can't recall whether she wrote the order down. I'm not sure. Once the main course arrived, I asked about the bisque, she gave a very slight apology and offered to bring it but I didn't want to have the main course get cold, while I ate the bisque or vice versa so I declined. After we were finished eating for a while and just sitting there, I asked someone for a carry out box. Of course he insisted on packing it himself, because it's a nice restaurant, but then he proceeded to do exactly what I feared he would do, which was stack the dirty dishes and condiment containers on the same plate with my leftovers. When I called it to his attention, he repositioned the plates and removed the condiments tray, but then put all of the silverware on my plate. However, I didn't want my dinner companion's used flatware on my plate either. I sat for a while with an empty table, before I was able to get the attention of the young lady who took our order so that I could ask to order dessert. Then it took a long while before she took the dessert order. Then another long while before the dessert arrived (one corn creme brulee). The creme brulee tastes very much like creamed corn, so if you like creamed corn, you will love this. I didn't love it. When the lady who took my order asked me how I liked it, I told her that it wasn't what I expected and that it had an unusual taste, she actually replied that she was glad that I liked it. That was the opposite of what I had said. Side note, the lady who served us, actually had another young lady assisting her, so I really don't understand how we spent so much time just waiting. I attached the empty table picture, because that's how much of our evening was spent, looking at an empty table. My friend who went to this restaurant a year or so ago said that not only was there someone who came by with a crumber, but also when she came back from the ladies room, her napkin had been refolded. She said that the service was superb. I noticed that some people were given a towel service to clean their hands before the meal, perhaps they ordered a messy appetizer, because we weren't offered that service. Update: 6/2025 I've been back. The service was more along the lines of what I expected. Richard and Samuel were very service oriented and engaged in chit chat with us. Totally opposite from my first experience. I will say that this was on a Wednesday as opposed to Friday the first time. Also, the filet mignon was better the first time. This one was a little over cooked and a bit too salty, but I left happy and full. Also, just to add, they no longer have complimentary valet, because apparently even though people could afford a fine dining experience, they couldn't afford to tip the valet...
