For the record because they responded below.... I did send a message the same day and have yet to receive a response.
I ordered for takeout online. Delmonico (med-rare) with parmesan potatoes, a salad, bread, and the cauliflower.
I arrived and the bartender went to check to see if everything was ready. I was right on time and sure enough I was all set. Awesome. I had a 30 minute drive back to my hotel.
When I unpacked everything it looked great, until I attempted to cut into the steak. It was pretty much raw in the middle. No, not even rare. I called the restaurant and the manager offered to refund me for the steak which I accepted (the transaction has posted to my card now, 2 days later for the full order amount. The 2 star review has now become 1 star).
I had to resort to microwaving a perfectly good steak in order to actually eat it. Sacrilege. To top it off with the steak, it was the most fatty grizzle filled piece of meat I have had the displeasure of eating in quite a while. A good 1/4-1/3 of it was inedible. In addition, you would think a steak joint would know enough to provide take-out cutlery of at least modest quality so that you could cut even a cooked steak. Thankfully I packed my pocket knife in my checked bag.
The potatoes were great, nicely seasoned and not pasty or mealy. The Cauliflower was decent, but not as good as some I have had before. The salad was a salad. Not much else to say.
The "bread" on the other hand was packed in a plastic bag and felt like hardtak, you know, the old wartime staple.... I would feel bad feeding this to the ducks as it would probably make them sink.
If I was closer (and had more time here) I would certainly give them a try for dine-in. The place was very nice inside even though it was in a very "SoDoSoPa" area. I would not recommend online or call in orders. If you do, go to your car and check your food before you leave the...
Read moreWent here last night for 7:15 reservation for 6 guest. Arrived at 7, was greeted and seated. Restaurant looking great. Very nice ambiance! Our server came over and offered drinks. The drinks were delivered by another gentleman. After about 20mins, I then flagged the gentleman who delivered the drinks and said can you take our order please because nobody has been back and our waiter seems to be helping another party outside… mind you we were in the back of the restaurant. Please tell me why my waiter has a table outside and we are the furthest possible table from the patio, and this is no small establishment. Food comes and was actually very attractive!! My steak was bland however, chicken was a tad overcooked, but overall good food quality. We then decided to get dessert. Again we waited until finally a different waiter came over and asked can I help with anything. I said yes we’re waiting for our dessert. He immediately came back as we were right by the kitchen with our order. That tells me it was sitting there, so why hadn’t our waiter brought it?? At this point it was 9pm. Restaurant was almost empty. Many parties had come and gone, meanwhile we have yet to get our dessert or check. I ordered to drinks. One mocktail one cocktail. They rang up 2 mocktails and an additional Bacardi. When questioned they said we adding the alcohol. That came up to $15. I said why didn’t you just ring up the drink I ordered instead of adding an extra drink to my bill??? At this point the first waiter comes back and says let me get my manager. I then stated everything from above and said I spent $250 here. The food was fine, my second waiter was good, besides the wait for our dessert and finally a third person had to step in because of how long we were sitting there. Many others including the manager walked by as we sat and said nothing. Almost 3 hours in a restaurant for a party of 6 on a Monday...
Read moreMy order was supposed to be ready for pickup at 4:14. I did not get the food until 4:50. When I first arrived , the host went to check on my order and said it would only be a few minutes. I watched as people behind me came in and were given their orders.
At one point a lady who appeared to be a manager came up to ask if I’d been helped. I told her I had been waiting for my order for quite awhile and was concerned because I had parked in a 15 minute only parking spot. Her response was “ I’ve never seen a car towed from those spots”. That was not an adequate response. She should’ve told me she would check on what was holding up my order.
I watched as the employees in back were bagging up orders and setting them out for pickup. That manager stood at a table in front of me talking with other diners while what appeared to be my order was set out. A few minutes later I was about to ask for a refund when I finally got my order. The manager said “sorry I had been dragged into something “ No she hadn’t. I watched her standing at a table directly in front of me laughing and conversing with patrons. She could have excused herself for a minute to grab my order, or at the very least asked another employee to get it. If the situation were reversed I highly doubt she would have been satisfied with the service she had been given.
This restaurant is not cheap. My order was $80.00 and in the end the hot food I was waiting on was cold. The dessert was melted and warm. My drink was watered down by melted ice. And to top it off my order was not correct.
I doubt this restaurant will survive in the long run and when it fails I don’t want to hear about the pandemic- lousy service will be the downfall here. If you are looking for a nice upscale restaurant experience, you need only to look across the street to Redlands. I’ve never had a bad experience...
