We were referred to this Knuckies by a friend. I won't be taking his recommendations again when it goes to hoagies.
The staff was friendly when we were having problems with our delivery order.
If the food was as good as the staff was friendly, it's would me make a great hoagie place.
Their hoagie rolls are hot dog rolls on steroid. Very soft interior and the exterior is that of a split top hot dog bun. It was maybe 8 inches long.
Their cheesesteak, nothing outstanding, was the right temperature. No detectable seasoning on the steak. We had two cheesesteaks. The one that had no extra cheese ordered, looked like it didn't have cheese on it at all. The other cheesesteak where I ordered extra cheese, had a lot of cheese which was good. Ordered sauteed onions, would have liked a lot more. I'm from Philly. I will give them credit the steak was properly presented, nicely shaved just no flavor.
They should call them steak & cheese because while a decent hoagie, it does a disservice to the term cheesesteak, nowhere near a real Philly cheesesteak.
And in response to the owners reply. I would be open to giving it another shot if and only if you replaced the rolls with real hoagie rolls. Without the proper roll, anyone familiar and who loves Philly cheesesteaks, will tell you that it isn't the thing they are looking for. You did really good on the cut and quality of the meat that did...
Read moreI was excited to try this new restaurant! But the sandwich was a basic hoagie sandwich.
I got a pastrami and roast beef, the pastrami was a little saltier than I have had in the past. The toppings or free extras are sparse. You can choose from onions, pickles, banana peppers, cucumbers, cherry pepper relish, Knuckies O&V, pepper, dijon, salt, yellow mustard, and oregano. I am a spicy girl, so I missed having the choice of spicy mustard. Also, I ordered the cherry pepper relish, but it was left off my sandwich.
If you like a basic hoagie, this is the place for you. They do have other items on the menu, like salads and soup. Also, they have heated sandwiches and pressed sandwiches, like the Cuban. The Cheesesteak looks interesting. I will try that next. Hopefully, it is tasty, meaning this will be my go-to place for Cheesesteaks.
I hope they do well; good luck.
So, the owner contacted me and offered to make my sandwich right. He was a delight, and the hoagie was better. I will be trying that Cheesesteak next time.
The owner did make it right. I went back and had the Cheesesteak and boy it was much better than the Pastrami and Roast Beef sandwich I had before. This will be my place to go for Cheesesteaks; it...
Read moreWe really wanted to like this place. I will say the staff was friendly and the place was clean. I was craving a BLT. It was “ok” at best. Two thinly cut somewhat green tomatoes on each half added nothing to it. A BLT should have bigger slices and fairly ripe, red tomatoes. I could not taste the tomatoes. We also ordered a Philly that was “ok”…bread was soggy after the 5 minute drive home. The bread was soft, but tasteless. Also, the restaurant was not busy, no orders ahead of us, and it took 15 minutes for our to-go order with only one hot sandwich. The ingredients did at least seem fresh. Two combos with regular size sandwiches , 1 regular size sandwich & 1 banana pudding, plus tip was $52. The coleslaw was too vinegary for our liking. I’m sure some people like it that way. The banana pudding was tasty but we had to pick the black bananas, not ripe, but black. Also, there was no whipped topping on it. Seemed too pricey for what we got, and we definitely...
